Immigrant health fellowship, not as in gatekeep care for an excluded group, but as in compensate me for my expertise, access, and superior outcomes as if I were โfellowshipโ trained
Intersectionality in medicine means recognizing when one of my communities receive increased funding and guidance (such as new LGBTQ health fellowships), while my other immigrant communities historically and consistently are denied this access.
The solution is not immigrant health fellowships- it is the adequate compensation of clinicians of color whose entire life has served as fellowship training.
