“Thousands of our children still must be brought back, and we count on broad international support to make it possible. Thank you to everybody who is helping.”
— @ZelenskyyUa, President of Ukraine

Russia called it a “health retreat.”
Ukrainian prosecutors are investigating it as a war crime.
Three students were taken from Kherson to occupied Crimea without their parents’ consent. When the “holiday” ended, they weren’t sent home. Instead, they were moved to another camp and enrolled in a college.
All three are now back in Ukraine. This became possible thanks to the support of partners within the President of Ukraine's Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
Russia’s occupation “governor” Vladimir Saldo and two collaborators are now suspects in the case.

12 years old — forced to raise the Russian flag at school.
16 — pushed into a propaganda youth movement and taught to handle weapons.
18 — pressured while Russian soldiers recruited teenagers into the army.
Last week, the @SaveukraineUs team rescued 25 children and teenagers from Russian occupation. This became possible thanks to the support of partners within the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
They are safe now.
But hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children remain under Russian control — exposed to Russification, militarisation and pressure to erase their identity.
🔁 Share their stories.
📢 Keep talking about them.
🏠 Help us bring every Ukrainian child home.

Viacheslav* learned about @helpingtoleave from a friend the team had already helped.
They coordinated his route, met him after his return and helped with temporary housing.
And he didn’t travel alone: on the way, he brought his friend’s two cats to safety too 🐈🐈
Today, Viacheslav is restoring his documents and planning his future in Ukraine. The cats are back with their owner.
We thank the Joint Center for Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War for supporting these returns.
*Names changed for security reasons.

Two more young Ukrainians are back on Ukrainian-controlled territory 🇺🇦
Albina* tried to leave the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region on her own but was stopped because she had no Ukrainian passport.
@helpingtoleave helped her with documents and a new route. In Minsk, she received a certificate for return to Ukraine. Today, she is safe with her relatives.

A photo of him burning a St. George ribbon. Detention. Interrogation. A two-year suspended sentence.
This is how Russia’s occupation authorities punished Vitalii for his pro-Ukrainian stance.
Vitalii, now 19, was 15 when Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Living under occupation in the Kherson region, he tried to continue his Ukrainian education. Under pressure, he was forced into the Russian school system, where he faced daily propaganda and militarization.
He joined the Yellow Ribbon resistance movement.
In April 2024, Russian security forces searched his phone during “filtration” and found the photograph. An occupation “court” later convicted him of so-called “rehabilitation of Nazism.”
The conviction prevented him from leaving for a long time. But he kept searching for a way out.
In March 2026, with volunteers’ support, Vitalii finally reached Ukrainian-controlled territory.
His story shows what young Ukrainians face under Russian occupation — and why helping them leave must remain a priority.
📣 Share Vitalii’s story. Keep the world’s attention on those still waiting to get out.

Russia is confiscating Ukrainian books while imposing its own curriculum on children under occupation.
The aim is to cut a generation off from its language, history and identity.
Every Ukrainian child has the right to remain Ukrainian. Protecting that right must be part of every effort to bring them home.

🫂 3.5 years apart.
A father in Ukrainian government-controlled territory. His wife and two children, aged 14 and 6, under Russian occupation.
For years, he searched for a way to bring them home.
Now, they’re finally together 💙💛
Here’s how 🧵👇

Through the Ukrainian President’s #BringKidsBack initiative, the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and Humanity Funds helped plan the route and coordinate their return.
After 3.5 years, the family was finally reunited 🫂

Russian soldiers escorted her home at gunpoint to check her documents and repeatedly interrogated her at checkpoints.
At school, teachers brought in from Russia told students that Ukraine did not exist.
This is what occupation does to a childhood.

Today, all 23 are safe and beginning reintegration with psychological support, documents and shelter.
But hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children remain under Russian control.
Share their stories. Keep the pressure on. Help us bring them home. 💙💛

Russia must return every child. Those responsible must face justice.

“Sanctions for crimes against Ukrainian children must remain high on the political agenda. Members of parliament can strengthen this work through parliamentary diplomacy.” — Vladyslav Vlasiuk
