Garden wildlife. 3 different Zoropsis spinimanas found yesterday/last night. The 1st was rescued from a neighbour's waste bin. The 2nd was on one of my bins near the front door (outside) and was relocated onto the shed. Finally, the 3rd was inside the shed window. #londonwildlife

A wasp spider’s nest found on a reserve in Northants today. This spider was being very attentive to it, as if it was guarding it. I think it’s a male. Is this unusual behaviour, as surely he would most likely have been eaten by the female after mating?

Garden wildlife. Last night I found a Segestria florentina on the shed. I have around 25-30 here now, but so far they have all been on the house itself or on a fence close/parallel to the side of the house, 1.5/2m from it. This was about 5/6m away from the nearest fence one.

Garden wildlife. An Anyphaena numida found on the kitchen ceiling this morning. Very sprightly once caught, and even when in the pint glass it was photographed in it was able to scale the sides effortlessly. Released on the shed where there are others. #londonwildlife

Metellina mengei, the ”spring season weaver of or-webs with a hole in the middle”. This male spider has a delightfully wide interpretation of spring, as I found it in October. #spidermacro #tetragnathidae

Garden wildlife. Last night the Zoropsis spinimana on the outside of the shed was feeding on something - difficult to ID, though it did appear to be one of the Anyphaena numidas that are also out and about on the shed at the moment, and likely passing quite close to each other.

Garden wildlife. A lovely Zoropsis spinimana on the shed last night. Possibly my favourite spider, and one I've seen fairly regularly here over the last few years. And a second one was inside the shed too - only underside views of that one, but they are quite distinctive!

Ostearius has other araneophagic spiders to contend with, not least Harpactea hombergi which is abundant among the rich decomposer community of the compost pile 🕷️💚🍃
