2022: I am Yoruba, but I support Peter Obi. 6k likes; 2k reposts; 500 comments. 2026: I am Yoruba, but I love Peter. 5 likes; 1 repost (his own); zero comments. Apparently, manifesting like a bastard or pretending to be one of us no longer attracts the engagement they desperately crave. Kudos to the bonafide Yoruba faithfuls on this platform. We have collectively banished that pestilence from our social space and ensured that, never again, will the inferior stock among us be allowed to masquerade as the face, voice or conscience of the Yoruba race. The masquerade has lost its audience, and the drums have gone silent. Good Morning Severally...

Most of you know this story, but none of you have heard it from me. Back in September 2018, Femi Hamzat wanted to be Governor of Lagos State. He had thirteen years of public service under Asiwaju and BRF, with the record and backing to win. Then party leaders asked him to step aside for me. It takes a rare man to put down what he wants without nursing a grudge. Femi shook my hand and five weeks later, agreed to run beside me. I have never forgotten that. Anyone can read a CV but only the person in the room with a man when the cameras leave can tell you who he really is. For 2,711 days, I have been in that room with him. When COVID-19 hit, when we faced our hardest weeks, when the Blue and Red Lines ran and when the Lekki Deep Sea Port opened, Femi was there. Long before any ribbon was cut, he was asking the tough questions an engineer asks. In many states, deputies are kept in reserve. On day one, Femi promised to be the best deputy governor in Lagos history. He kept his word. In seven years, there has not been a single day I wondered whose side he was on. We have had one government, one direction, and one voice. Lagos runs on a relay system. The baton is never passed to a runner standing still. You run at full speed inside the exchange zone, together, before the pass. That is how Lagos has been governed for 27 years, from Asiwaju to BRF, to Ambode, to me. Femi is a deputy governor like no other. He built the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge under Fashola, digitized government under Asiwaju and holds a doctorate in engineering. His father served Lateef Jakande. This is in his blood. Critics say Lagos keeps choosing from the same pool. I say Lagos trains its people. With major projects underway and a master plan stretching to 2052, this is not the time to experiment. What Femi presents today is not a campaign promise cooked up on a bus, it is the next leg of a race we have been running since 1999. Lagos does not hand the baton to a man standing still. Today, you have seen the man who is already running. Let us move forward together with The Lagos PROMISE.

The beauty of Yorùbá culture is truly unmatched. ❤️ While proudly displaying her Iro àti Bùbá and Gèlè in London, this Yorùbá woman encountered a young man who greeted her confidently in Yorùbá and showed his respect by bowing, almost prostrating before her.

I have today signed the NIMC Act 2026 into law. For nearly twenty years, Nigeria’s identity system operated under a law written for a different era. That era is over. This new Act gives our nation a modern, secure and digital identity framework fit for the Nigeria we are building, a Nigeria on the path to becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.

Some of you tagged Lagos state as “No Man’s Land.” You are now gaslighting by calling it “a cosmopolitan state.” From this, you seem to think you should coin the phrase “Lagos Igbo.” There is no established ethnic group called “Lagos Igbo.” You may have “Delta Igbo” (the Igbo speaking communities in Delta State), but “Lagos Igbo” (the Igbo speaking communities in Lagos) has never been a thing here, can never be a thing, will never be a thing. We will continue to correct this intuition. We only have Igbo residents in Lagos.
This is the venue for those asking. FHA Festac.

From coordinating complex programmes to ensuring that every project aligns with the movement's goals, Kayode has proven himself to be a leader of quiet competence and unwavering dedication. He is a man who does not seek attention but commands respect through his results. He is not loud, but his work speaks volumes. He is not flashy, but his contributions are solid and lasting. As Think Yoruba First continues to grow and make waves, we recognise that much of that progress is thanks to the steady hand of Kayode Oloko. He is not just a manager. He is a builder, a strategist, and a true son of Yoruba land. On behalf of The Yoruba Times, we join the Think Yoruba First family in celebrating him. We also appreciate his dedication to the Yoruba cause and the significant role he has played in advancing the vision of our people. Kayode Oloko, your work is seen. Your efforts are valued. Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business.
