Thank the staff of our Brookefields Layout during Ayudha Puje!
We're pleased indeed to see that our staff, all below poverty line, are so healthy and well-turned-out. And oh, their kids go to school --- another plus.
Our staff do dirty and dangerous work: sweeping the roads, climbing down into drains to unblock them, trimming weeds that can hide reptiles, etc. Our neighborhood is clean and tidy because of these essential workers.
We all grow together: The Brookefields Association and its sponsors ensure on-time salaries, and the workers ensure a clean, well-maintained neighborhood. A win-win!
[The tractor decorated for Ayudha Puje is owned by our street manager. Its purchase was made possible by a loan from us. It is the same tractor that hauls our street waste. We get an essential vehicle and he got an asset that brings in revenue: Again, a win-win.]
What a pleasure it is to take a moment to thank our staff during Ayudha Puje! Our staff do dirty and dangerous work: sweeping the roads, climbing down into drains to unblock them, trimming weeds that can hide reptiles, etc. Our neighborhood is clean and tidy because of these essential workers.
We're pleased indeed to see that our staff, all below poverty line, are so healthy and well-turned-out. And oh, their kids go to school --- another plus. It is true there are some problems with alcoholism and the occasional absenteeism, but I think we're all growing together: The Brookefields Association and its sponsors ensure on-time salaries, and the workers ensure a clean, well-maintained neighborhood. A win-win!

Seeking the blessings of Kundalahalli Gramadevathe Sri Madhagadamma during this auspicious Navaratri festival.
To get this done, a vast number of stakeholders have to co-ordinate:
-- Bescom needs to move its poles away from the carriageway.
-- Landowners need to be compensated for any land taken for road-widening.
-- Contractors must build as per design specification.
All of these things are difficult to do in the Indian context, but doesn't mean we shouldn't try!
The Siddapura-Nallurahalli road was widened in 2014. So why did the traffic jam on that road get much worse? It is because
(A) the wider roadwidth was not regulated into lanes;
(B) provisions were not made for pedestrians; and
(C) junctions were not designed with turning and merging lanes.
In this discussion with local residents affected by the perennial traffic jam along Siddapura-Nallurahalli Road, we describe a well-thought-through design that can durably banish traffic jams.
Communities and villages coming together to care for their public spaces result in efficient, transparent, and responsive self-governance. Here is great example!
As promised, today morning (Sun. 4 Oct.), we concreted the recently widened New Temple Road slightly ahead of schedule!
A privately led road widening and a community-funded paving of a very busy and congested stretch of road!
A huge applause for all the residents of Nallurahalli and for those whose donations made this possible!!!
THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT!
Brookefield Layout Residents are super-proud of our neighboring brothers and sisters at @WFRising who have led the widening of an extremely traffoc-jammed road and crowdfunded its concrete construction!

Brookefields Layout Residents Association has proudly contributed to the maintenance of this lake. Most recently, we filled in regions of the walkway where water pooled. We also established drains so that the walkway remains dry even after the heaviest rains. So, people, start your weekend by running through the lakeshores!
Let's dive in and clean up this notoriously problematic street in Thubrahalli! Start point: maps.app.goo.gl/9A29qWWDiEsf…

It was a successful plogging drive at Kundalahalli lake today! Thanks to all who sweated it out on a Sunday morning to clean the lake.
For those wondering where we source our bollards from, we manufacture them ourselves!
