THE OUTFIT IS OUTERWEAR October in Atlanta is a month for fashion. It all kicks off with Atlanta Fashion Week Oct. 1-4, followed by the Atlanta Apparel market Oct. 6-9, ushering out the lightweight simplicity of summer and welcoming in the layered looks of fall. Although we often focus on the perfect chunky sweater or ’90s-fit jeans, pivot your attention to jackets, boots and scarves instead. Refine your wardrobe with these five items because sometimes, the outerwear is the outfit. J. Crew Perfect Raincoat in navy ($148) Protect yourself from rainy Georgia days and match with Paddington the bear in this raincoat from J. Crew. The 100% recycled polyamide fabric is water-resistant, and the snap closure and patch pockets allow for comfortable convenience. This raincoat reimagines and modernizes a classic silhouette with a longer length and draw cord at the waist for added shape. The hooded outerwear staple fits oversized and hits below the knee. For a more fitted look, size down. J. Crew jcrew.com @jcrew Read more in the latest issue! 📝 Katie Hughes #TheOutfitIsOuterwear #JCrewRaincoat #AtlantaFashionWeek #AtlantaApparel #SimplyBuckhead

When the Titanic sank, it carried millionaire John Jacob Astor IV. The money in his bank account was enough to build 30 Titanics. However, faced with mortal danger, he chose what he deemed morally right and gave up his spot in a lifeboat to save two frightened children. Millionaire Isidor Straus, co-owner of the largest American chain of department stores, "Macy's," who was also on the Titanic, said: "I will never enter a lifeboat before other men." His wife, Ida Straus, also refused to board the lifeboat, giving her spot to her newly appointed maid, Ellen Bird. She decided to spend her last moments of life with her husband. These wealthy individuals preferred to part with their wealth, and even their lives, rather than compromise their moral principles. Their choice in favor of moral values highlighted the brilliance of human civilization and human nature.

🚨INCREDIBLE: 18-year-old Carmelo Castle is already making history. The Woodville High School graduate completed the school’s plumbing program and passed the Texas state tradesman exam — becoming one of the first high school students in the state to do so. He stepped into adulthood with specialized training, an industry credential, and a real career already underway. Carmelo is now working as a second-year tradesman with Local 68 Plumbing in Beaumont, Texas, gaining experience and building his earning potential while many of his peers are still trying to decide what they want to do. “It gave me a chance to actually step up in life,” he said.
