On this day in 1992, David Milgaard was released from prison.
He spent over two decades imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. His mother Joyce never gave up on him and fought for his release.
This is the story of the man who inspired the song Wheat Kings.

On the 76th anniversary of confederation I presented an article on Newfoundland and Labrador politics in my Canadian Politics undergraduate seminar. I love teaching others about our special province.
Terry Fox on the $5 bill... some of the most wonderful news I could have heard tonight. My forever hero and the greatest Canadian.

A pretty significant anniversary is coming up in NL - the day 120 years ago that four moose were let loose in Howley, the ancestors of all the moose on the island today. saltwire.com/newfoundland-la…
Thinking about Terry Fox today. My hero forever and the greatest Canadian. Thank you for everything.

When the call came, brave young Newfoundlanders and Labradorians roughly the same age as my children signed up to fight for our freedoms in WWI. Too many mothers were never able to lay their sons to rest. Now, we have the overwhelming honour of bringing one of them home.
107 years ago on this day, over 700 members of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment were killed or wounded during the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel. This tragedy stole husbands, fathers, brothers and son's from our island and altered the course of NL history forever. We will never forget.
In honour of Memorial Day, I wanted to share a video I made in partnership with Source Story about the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel and the deep and lasting scars it left on the island of Newfoundland. History is important.

It has been both an inspiring and thoughtful time with the Premier's Youth Council as they held their first in-person meetings since the pandemic.
Youth retention, mental health, Come Home 2022, immigration, and Reconciliation were amongst the many discussions.
