Whooo, we have a winner! Congratulations @daviddoescience with the poster prize at the #esove2024 👏. The 3D printed coffee cups used for the LAMP method were a great addition to the poster. #xenosurveillance #onehealthentomology

Another great poster at the #esove, @daviddoescience shows how LAMP assays can be used as a cost-effective xenosurveillance approach using reusable aluminium coffee cups! Have a look at S7-P09.

Cool work Jason! Please also check our latest publication in which we included a similar finding more as a sidenote: ‘Interestingly, we also found a small number of infected Cx. pipiens males with virus-positive leg and saliva samples.’ parasitesandvectors.biomedce…

Breaking News! Code UFB!!! In a year of mind-blowing extremes, yet another new record high global sea surface temperature was set yesterday, at 21.17°C. "So long, and thanks for all the fish!"

I really love our campus and its atmosphere @WUR, but some places are still a thorn in the side. Today, I even observed live mosquito larvae in the water of this ‘pond’ underneath our auditorium (Omnia). More greenness will promote natural enemies. @KarenKloth as witness ;).

Thanks for hosting us @ird_fr. And the number of active Ae. albopictus at this time of the year was truly amazing: within 2 min. around 10-15 females could be found circulating around our legs.
Last week ⁦@BugproofBugprof⁩ and ⁦@Anopheline⁩ ‘trained’ to Montpellier for a workshop on ‘The greening of cities and the effects on vectors’ organized by ⁦@ird_fr⁩. Aedes albopictus still very active in the (beautiful) botanical gardens and nearby city center.

There are 1,000,001 mosquitoes. A giant one on the wall in the back. Still, quite impressive numbers

Teaching @WUR in September means tick hunting for the Basics of Infectious Diseases course. Nice start and tour @wildvanavolare wildlife rescue center (many ticks from hedgehogs!) and today monitoring verges of forest tracks for questing ticks.
