First event in SF had to be a hardware one. Had a great time at the SF Hardware meetup hosted by @BuildWithFlux. Thanks @michaelraspuzzi for the invite. Also, got to show off Mave @mavehealth at the open mic.

People ask me how @BuildWithFlux is different from using Claude for hardware design. Flux operates at the level of an engineer, not a CAD copilot. It can design the electronics, PCB, enclosure and firmware. It can simulate the device, source parts, verify manufacturability, write the documentation and do much of it in parallel. But the biggest difference is the level of abstraction. With Claude, you're still the engineer. You break the problem down, orchestrate the tools, provide context, verify the work and figure out what to do next. Flux has the hardware-specific environment, tools, context, verification and execution harness already built in, and knows how to effectively use them. You can describe a consumer electronics device and spend the next ~20 prompts mostly answering clarification questions while Flux does the engineering. And underneath the agent is a complete AI-native CAD/EDA environment spanning electronics, mechanical design, simulation and manufacturing. You just don't have to operate it. No bouncing between CAD, EDA, simulation, firmware and documentation tools. The goal isn't AI-assisted CAD. The goal is to make the CAD disappear.

actually, hardware and software are both easier than ever And increasingly, the distinction doesn’t matter! It’s all collapsing into the same interface: AI chat! See screenshot: I am building a consumer device on my phone!
actually, good hardware/software co-design is harder. especially right now. but for an obviously humorous purpose and a bit of truth nuke in it to contradict OP's direct statement. compilers are significantly harder than hardware, especially right now

AI is about to create an explosion in the number of people who can design physical products The bottleneck moves from designing things to actually making them! That’s why AI hardware engineering and automated manufacturing are going to grow together

> Imagine what happens when millions more people can build robots, medical devices, instruments, vehicles, satellites, toys, tools and things none of us have thought of yet. More builders is more better!
The walls between engineering disciplines are coming down. And when they do, millions more people will be able to turn ideas into physical products. We took a big step toward that future today 🚀

People ask if we just do enclosures for PCBs...absolutely not! You can designing anything in Flux now!

I believe Flux AI is also doing AI-Native PCB design, but they’re primarily focused on ECAD/PCB design. We’re trying to go broader with HeyPCB by connecting both ECAD and MCAD, so you can iterate on the full hardware product in one place.

We just closed on a new office for @BuildWithFlux in San Francisco! 🍾 🎉 After years of working remotely, the Flux team finally has a home base. Flux is building an AI hardware engineer, which means we live at the intersection of software and the physical world. Chips, sensors, boards, machines. The kind of things that don’t exist until someone builds them. Having a physical space matters for that. Our new office has three stories, tons of sunlight, a rooftop, and a machine shop. More space than we can use ourselves. So we want to turn it into something bigger than just an office. The goal is simple: build a hub for hardware in San Francisco. We want engineers, designers, founders, makers, and artists who are working at the intersection of digital and physical technology to collide here. To prototype, share ideas, and build ambitious things. San Francisco hasn’t always been kind to artists, and we want to change that too. We’re launching an artist-in-residence program for people exploring the frontier between hardware, robotics, AI, and art. If you know someone building inspiring things, send them our way. Let’s make this place a home for hardware again 🤖
