A damning sign of how compromised Nusseibeh is - she cannot even say she will back a UN investigation of the UAE’s supplying of weapons in Sudan. She cannot even prove her claim of independence. A mockery of the UN.

It's worth noting that the massacres and mass rape in El Fasher, Sudan, claiming tens of thousands of lives, happened with the complicity of the UAE and @Lana_Nusseibeh, now seeking to be the next UN Secretary-General. Empowering mass murder and rape should be disqualifying.

Lana Nusseibeh, the United Arab Emirates diplomat who is suddenly being promoted as a candidate for UN secretary general, hasn't only lied about the UAE role in sending arms and mercenaries to the genocidal Rapid Support Forces paramilitary in Sudan. بعد إعلان رئيس دير سانت كاترين عزمه توقيع اتفاق مع الحكومة المصرية بشأن الدير والأراضي المحيطة به، قررت محكمة استئناف الإسماعيلية، اليوم، تأجيل نظر جميع الدعاوى المقامة من دير سانت كاترين ومحافظة جنوب سيناء بشأن أراضي الدير إلى جلسة 27 ديسمبر المقبل، لتقديم ما يفيد الصفة القانونية للقائم على شؤون الدير.
وقال محامي الدير، فتحي راغب، إنه قرأ في الصحف عن وجود تسوية مرتقبة بين الحكومة المصرية ودير سانت كاترين، غير أن مسارات قضائية متعددة لا تزال متداولة أمام محكمة النقض ومحكمة الاستئناف، ولم يُبت فيها حتى الآن. وطالب في حديثه لـ«مدى مصر» إمهاله وقتًا لتحديد مصير تلك الدعاوى، بعد الرجوع إلى المسؤولين عن الدير.
وأعلنت وزارة الخارجية المصرية، أمس، تسلم الوزير بدر عبد العاطي خطابًا من رئيس أساقفة سيناء وفاران ورايثو، المطران سيميون بابادوبولوس، يتضمن الموافقة على العقد الخاص بالدير والأراضي المحيطة به، تمهيدًا لتوقيعه رسميًا في موعد يحدد لاحقًا، بما يضع حدًا للإجراءات القانونية والنزاعات المعلقة بشأن وضع الدير.
وفي السياق نفسه، وجّه وزير الخارجية اليوناني، جورج جيرابتريتيس، الشكر إلى الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي، ووزير الخارجية، بدر عبد العاطي، لما وصفه بدورهما في جعل الاتفاق ممكنًا.

I understand why @Lana_Nusseibeh is seeking to be UN secretary-general. Ambition. I don't understand why the US or other countries would support her given her role in underwriting mass murder and mass rape in Sudan, in a campaign Trump and Biden both defined as genocide.

The US and Russia seem to be pushing for the next UN Secretary General to be a UAE official, @Lana_Nusseibeh, who has helped underwrite mass murder and mass rape in Sudan and then lied about it, as she is doing here.

وكيف للعالم أن يثق بقدرتها على إدارة موقع الامين العام بحيادية عندما تتعارض ادلة وتقارير الأمم المتحدة مع مصالح حكومتها التي رشحتها؟ إن منصب الامانة العامة الأمم المتحدة ليس موقعاً لحماية نظام إجرامي من التدقيق والمساءلة، ومقعد الأمين العام لا ينبغي أن يكون للبيع.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry is lying.
No coordination was required, and we were never told that it was. We were not in a restricted security area. We did not pass any checkpoints.
Palestinian farmers do not — and should not — need permits to harvest their own olive fields. But they fear doing so, because the IDF doesn’t protect them from settler violence.
We’re trying to model solidarity & co-existence between Jews and Palestinians, and to call attention to the horrors of the occupation. The Israeli government is trying to foment violence between Jews and Palestinians, and to make it impossible for Palestinians to harvest their olive groves, drive on their roads, or live in their homes.
This was not about harvesting olives.
It was about harvesting headlines.
Brad Lander’s latest stunt is nothing more than a calculated political provocation.
Lander traveled to a foreign country, deliberately entered a restricted security area, and participated in an unauthorized activity without the required coordination.
What makes this stunt even more outrageous is that his own team contacted Israeli representatives in the United States ahead of his visit and was explicitly informed that proper coordination with the relevant authorities was required.
He chose to ignore those instructions.
At a time of heightened security tensions, Israeli security forces have a responsibility to protect lives, prevent dangerous incidents, and maintain public order.
Had anyone been injured as a result of his reckless political theater, Lander would undoubtedly have been among the first to demand that Israeli authorities intervene and provide protection.
Brad Lander came looking for a confrontation. Now he is pretending to be its victim.
