Downtown Windsor is the heart of our city. Together, we’re going to make it stronger. Today, alongside Councillor Renaldo Agostino and downtown champion Chris MacLeod, I’m announcing a collaborative plan to create a downtown that works for everyone… a place where people feel safe, businesses thrive, and families want to visit, shop, dine, and enjoy our city. We’ve made progress through Strengthen the Core. Now, it’s time to take that work further. Our plan includes: ✅ Strengthen the Core 2.0: Expand investments, events, and initiatives, and work to attract a downtown anchor tenant and riverfront attraction. ✅ Better coordinated care: Complete H4 upgrades and relocate the Downtown Mission and Pozitive Pathways to the enhanced campus, bringing services and supports together. ✅ More housing and support: Seek provincial and federal support for transitional and supportive housing at the Village at The Barn. ✅ Inviting public spaces: Build a new Central Library at City Hall Square with a residential component, and begin Festival Plaza’s transformation by greening the space. ✅ Jobs and investment: Create new economic development opportunities, including at the former bus terminal site. ✅ A more welcoming downtown: Improve lighting, trees, beautification, and transit infrastructure, and connect the University Avenue rehabilitation project to the core. Lasting change takes people who believe in downtown and are prepared to do the work. I’m proud to stand with partners who share that commitment. Let’s see this through. Windsor Strong.
