Can a country run twin deficits for decades and still have a strong currency? The dollar has, and that is the puzzle this episode fights over. Brent: the dollar is backed by debt now, and the $115T eurodollar system means demand for dollars abroad is the trap no one can escape yet. John: fiscal dominance, endless sanctions and the twin deficits are quietly poisoning that same demand. Overplayed hand or decades left to run? Which side are you on?

It's America's direction now and the future. The discourse was awesome, I learned more about the EU and agreed with the assessment👍👍👍🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥 The U.K. and EU need to support free speech and look for energy if they want to hang with America. If they don't, it will be a very painful headwind.... at the very lease lolz😁😁 Let's say that Poland and Germany befriend with Russia. America will be OK. America will still be asking Hungary, Austria, and even Ukraine to join America. America will ask many other nations to join America. This train is coming and is not stopping. Other nations can do whatever they want. Those who join America will benefit greatly. Those who do not will see a heavy, fast approaching train. No, we will not run them over🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😝😜😜. We will hit the brake. However, the train is heavy and fast, it might not stop on time.......so please forgive...😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😂😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 AmericaFirst, greatest Empire of Liberty😜😇
Europe Is Broke, Angry and Out of Energy. John Butler says the wounds are self-inflicted: net zero, lost Russian gas, 20 years of no per capita growth, and a euro system cracking at Target 2, with France and Germany both turning into sick men. Brent Johnson says the real driver isn't economics, it's geopolitics: defense, energy and the special relationship under strain, and the outcome decided by alignment, not balance sheets. Reform catalyst or slow blowup. Which side are you on?

Europe now gets 63% of its LNG from the United States. Brent's read: in any US-Europe standoff, that one number means Washington holds the upper hand short term. Does energy dependence settle the argument? Full episode pinned to our profile

Latest interview with @ButlerGoldRevo on why the US bond market may be entering a dangerous new phase and why gold is rising alongside real yields. We also discuss whether China could eventually challenge the dollar with gold-backed bonds or a gold-linked renminbi. Full interview below 👇

The solution to misallocated capital? 🤔 A short recession, says @ButlerGoldRevo.

@ButlerGoldRevo says many people expected disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz to show up immediately in prices, but he believes the bigger impact hasn’t arrived yet. He explains that the real risk is fertilizer reaching farms too late for seasonal application. If farmers don’t receive it in the right quantities, in the right places and at the right time, crop yields become “significantly lower.” That’s why Butler warns, “Next year’s harvest will be a disaster even if the war ends tomorrow.” Watch the full conversation on The Real Story with @MichelleMakori: youtube.com/watch?v=imQXOefp…

“Next year’s harvest… will be a disaster even if the war ends tomorrow.” @ButlerGoldRevo warns that depleted fertilizer inventories could trigger a global food shock, double-digit inflation and a financial crisis comparable to 2008. And if the system begins to seize up, he says gold could reach $40,000 within five years – a forecast he calls “conservative.” Watch the full interview on The Real Story with @MichelleMakori: youtube.com/watch?v=imQXOefp…

Gideon, if by conspiracy theorist you mean someone who thinks the FT: 1) had a duty to investigate the possible lab origins of Covid, 2) to offer a counter argument to lockdown based on economic reasoning and 3) who thinks that it is unfair to disparage poles who believe the Russians may have been responsible for Smolensk - especially in the context of the establishment simultaneously propagating the view that Putin is responsible for almost everything else evil in the world - then, I guess, yes I am one. Though in my view even this is a misrepresentation of my position, since I have not at any point asserted the counter narratives are definitely true or that I have superior insight into them. On the contrary my point is that the intellectually honest thing to do when there is an ambiguity (or absence of evidence) is to admit this is not equal to evidence of absence. If anything, I’ve objected to the automatic dismissal or mockery of theories that question official narratives just because they tend to be beliefs held by lower socio-economic classes or those of a different political persuasion. In the case of Smolensk, I think I was pretty clear. My complaint was not related to the idea that the “conspiracy theory” was credible when you said it wasn’t. It was that it was unfair of you to mock and speak badly of people who, due to the complex history of Poland, have an understandable mistrust of Russians. By doing so, you were effectively implying they are intellectually inferior to yourself and that intuitions informed by their specific lived experience are unjustified (even though the FT is more than happy to argue the opposite for the intuitions of other socio economic classes.) It’s all the more glaring when one realises the modern intelligentsia doesn’t seem to have a problem normalising unsubstantiated “conspiracy theories” if they happen to serve their own agenda. And herein lies the problem, as far as I see it. The public are expected to overlook gaping ambiguities and/or sketchy evidence when it serves the establishment agenda but apply larger than life scrutiny, even to plain as day evidence, when it runs counter to that agenda. This is an attack both on common-sense-making and intelligence itself. All unsubstantiated claims should be held to equal scrutiny. And all ambiguities deserve investigation if they are important enough. Allowing obvious holes in official narratives to persist just because it wouldn’t be the done thing to question the authority of those telling us black is white and white is black, is the far madder thing to accept in a democracy with an alleged free press. Yet as it stands there is a much higher burden of evidence for one side of the argument. For example the FT had no qualms insinuating Putin was responsible for prigozhin’s plane crash. As for the football, you’ve again missed the point of my critique. I have no idea if the claims that Argentina is being given an easy ride on purpose are true or not. Frankly I don’t care. I totally bow to your superior knowledge on all matters related to football. I just don’t take kindly to the idea that anyone who suggests something may be awry is by definition a deplorable idiot, especially given the number of people who seem to think something is up. It is sententious. Just look at the comments on your own article. People have a right to question things without immediately being dismissed as idiots. And by the way, slurring those who criticise you as “conspiracy theorists” is an intellectually lazy rhetorical device.

Glad to see you are still a conspiracy theorist, Izabella - even about things you admit you know nothing about. Never change.

I had a great conversation with former banker and author @ButlerGoldRevo about whether gold is still a safe haven, how John comes to a $40,000 price target and why gold is destined to be the money of a multipolar world. We also discuss AI's potential. youtube.com/watch?v=JLHruOCE…
