FRN — ✊🇨🇩 Our struggle will soon bear fruit. We hope for a future where the war in Congo comes to an end and a new era of peace, justice, unity, and freedom begins. A new Congo where every citizen can live in dignity, without fear or discrimination. The future we dream of is one where peace finally prevails and our people can rebuild their lives. 🇨🇩✊

📍 Indianapolis, Indiana | October 3–4
Special Guest and Guest of Honor, H.E. Hon. Azarias Ruberwa, former Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, delivered a powerful and deeply moving message of hope for a different Congo—one where every citizen is treated with equal dignity, rights, and respect.
He closed the USA–Africa Faith Diplomacy Gathering for the Protection of Human Dignity, Genocide Prevention and Peace in Africa with a vision of a Congo where discrimination no longer defines the lives of its people:
“The day will come when we will no longer face discrimination and suffering. There will be a day when people speaking Swahili will not be disturbed simply because they speak one of Congo’s four national languages. There will be a day when obtaining a Congolese passport will never depend on a person’s facial features, physical appearance, or how Congolese they are perceived to look. And there will be a day when Babembe, Banyamulenge, and other communities will once again live together as they did when peace prevailed.”
From Indianapolis, the message was clear: protecting human dignity is not a favor - it is a responsibility. Preventing atrocities requires speaking before silence becomes complicity. And peace in the DRC must mean peace, dignity, justice, and security for all Congolese.

Faith leaders must not only pray for peace, they must speak when human dignity is under threat.
On October 3–4 in Indianapolis, Indiana, faith leaders, peace advocates, and community voices gathered for the USA–Africa Faith Diplomacy Gathering for the Protection of Human Dignity, Genocide Prevention.
Nehemiah Pastor’s Association and the Pan-African Faith Leaders Initiative for Peace, Justice and Human Dignity (PAFLI).
PAFLI brings together faith leaders across Africa and the United States to advance human dignity, justice, peacebuilding, genocide prevention, and reconciliation, while using moral leadership to confront hatred, dehumanization, and persecution before they escalate.
In its declaration, Archbishop Dr. Daniel Youssef Cohen raised the alarm over the persecution of Banyamulenge and Tutsi communities in eastern DRC:
“We are deeply alarmed by the targeted persecution of Banyamulenge and Tutsi communities in eastern DRC. The 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi taught us the devastating consequences of hatred, dehumanization, silence, and indifference. No political, ethnic, religious, or economic interest can ever justify the destruction of human life.”
Genocide prevention begins before the killing—by confronting hatred, discrimination, and dehumanization while there is still time to act.
From Indianapolis, the message was clear: protecting human dignity is a responsibility. Silence must never become an accomplice to persecution.
