My name is Jennifer and I help softball athletes with the recruiting process. As a former D1 college outfielder and lefty slapper I had no idea where to start with the recruiting process. I spent countless hours figuring out what to say, where to send the emails, and trying to decide where I fit in the college softball world. I spent most of my senior year stressing out.
This is why I started helping girls with the recruiting process and it has been so rewarding.
Here is what I offer:
Advisement from me (Coach Jennifer Turner)

Player Evaluation (1 per year)
Help with Emails
Analytics report
Messaging system

🥎 Want to improve your chances of getting recruited? Start by doing your homework.
Building a target list takes more than recognizing a school’s name or liking its softball program. Thorough research helps you identify opportunities, communicate your interest, and spend your time with purpose.
Before adding a school to your list, look into:
🎓 Academics: Does it offer majors that interest you?
🥎 Softball: Watch games, review the roster, and learn about the program. Roster openings and recruiting needs are questions to ask coaches—not assumptions to make.
📍 Campus and location: Could you see yourself living and learning there, even outside of softball?
💰 Cost: Explore the total cost and available financial aid with your family.
🤝 Fit: Learn about the coaching staff, team culture, and expectations.
That research gives your outreach a purpose. Instead of “I’m interested in your school,” you can explain why—and ask thoughtful questions that help you learn more.
Build a list with a range of programs, track your communication, and keep updating it as you receive feedback and your priorities develop.
Research doesn’t guarantee an offer. It helps you find opportunities worth pursuing—and show up prepared when they come.
Your goal is to find a school where you can grow as a student, an athlete, and a person. 💛

We are District Champs after last night! We work hard together and we have each other's back. I hit homerun in the 6th, 1-2 count, 2 outs. While we didn't have video, here's some of my favorite pictures of the night. @SluggersKC @LadySluggersOrg @BSSJagsSoftball @CAASoftballAdv

🥎 Your recruiting journey does not have to look like anyone else’s.
It’s hard to watch others commit while you’re still waiting for a reply. But someone else’s announcement doesn’t erase your progress.
Keep showing up. Keep asking questions. Keep improving your game—and stay open to opportunities you hadn’t considered.
You can’t control when a coach responds. You can control your effort, your preparation, and your next step.
You don’t need every answer today. Just take that next step.

🥎 Don’t let unanswered questions turn into frustration.
Unsure about your role? Wondering what you need to improve? It’s easy to start making assumptions when you don’t have clarity.
Take ownership by starting a respectful conversation with your coach.
Here’s your plan:
1️⃣ Choose the right time.
Ask: “Coach, could we find a few minutes to talk about my development?” Give the conversation space away from the middle of a game or an emotional moment.
2️⃣ Ask for specific direction.
“What are two things I can work on to better contribute to the team?”
Specific questions give you something clear to take into practice.
3️⃣ Listen and ask follow-up questions.
If your coach says you need more consistency, ask: “What would that look like in my position?” Make sure you understand the expectation.
4️⃣ Put the feedback into action.
Write down your priorities and work on them intentionally. Ask for drills or cues if you need help getting started.
5️⃣ Follow up on your progress.
After you’ve had time to work, ask: “Are you seeing improvement? What should I keep focusing on?”
A conversation may not lead to an immediate change in your role, but it can help you understand expectations and build a plan.
📌 Your challenge this week: If you’re unsure where you stand, ask for a conversation. Go in ready to listen, learn, and take action.
You can advocate for yourself while respecting your coach and supporting your team.

🥎 One mistake doesn’t have to follow you into the next play.
A missed ground ball. A strikeout. A throw you wish you could take back.
Frustration is normal. Having a reset routine gives you something to do with it so you can get ready for your next responsibility.
Build your routine with these three steps:
1️⃣ Take a breath.
Take one steady breath and relax your shoulders. Give yourself a moment to regroup.
2️⃣ Use a short cue.
Choose words that help you refocus: “Next pitch,” “Ready,” or “Trust my work.” Keep your cue simple and consistent.
3️⃣ Find your next job.
Ask yourself: “What do I need to do right now?”
Check your positioning, know the situation, or get ready to support your teammate.
Example: You make a fielding error. Take a breath, say “next pitch,” then check the outs and runners before getting into your ready position.
You don’t have to feel completely calm to take the next useful action. A reset helps you return your attention to the game.
📌 Your next-practice challenge: Choose one cue and practice your routine after a frustrating rep. Make it familiar before you need it in competition.
You can learn from the mistake afterward. Right now, give yourself a chance to make the next play.

🥎 Give yourself proof that you’re growing.
It’s easy to leave practice thinking about the ball you missed or the swing that didn’t feel right. But those moments don’t tell the whole story.
Your progress won’t always show up in your stats right away. Sometimes it looks like recognizing a pitch sooner, making an adjustment, or recovering faster after a mistake.
Build confidence by keeping track of that progress.
After each practice, take two minutes to write down:
📝 One thing you improved.
“I was more consistent with my throwing footwork.”
📝 One thing you learned.
“I noticed I’m rushing my first step on ground balls.”
📝 One next step.
“At my next practice, I’ll focus on staying balanced as I move toward the ball.”
Be specific and honest. You can recognize what needs work while giving yourself credit for what’s getting better.
Over time, these small notes create a record of your growth. On a tough day, look back at them. Remind yourself what you’ve learned, what you’ve worked through, and how far you’ve come.
📌 Your challenge this week: Keep a practice note on your phone or in a notebook. Add those three things after every practice.
Confidence can grow when you have evidence of the work you’re putting in. Start collecting yours.
