Well, it would seem that Mark Shorrock’s dream of building a Tidal Lagoon in Swansea Bay, using rock from his Cornish Quarry is over. Let’s wait and see what he dreams up next for Dean Quarry. What a David & Goliath journey this has been.

25.11.21. The High Court confirms that Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay Development Consent Order (DCO) is dead. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Adm…
On July 1st 2020 the U.K. Government sent a letter to the developer of Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay to confirm that the projects Development Consent Order had expired. Please see the attached two pages of this letter.
No such reassurance letter has ever been received by Shorrock of @TidalLagoon in his capacity as owner of Shire Oak Quarries. Taking down deanquarry.com website on 24.6.20 that STILL displayed Tidal Lagoon rock hopes is a costly gesture too late.

Latest press coverage in @PrivateEyeNews .Tidal Lagoon representatives visited our community on 28.6.19 & have failed to communicate & return calls since. Administrator update for 2 group companies shows discussions with @WelshGovernment have not progressed as far as they hoped.

Representatives of Tidal Lagoon met with our community on 28.6.19. One of their options for Dean Quarry STILL includes extracting rock to build their Tidal Lagoon. They denied a new DCO would be needed for Dragon Energy Island & were dismissive of not having a Marine License.

One of their representatives said no marine license was needed to dredge & transport rock via ship through the newly appointed Manacles MCZ.They needed reminding that their planning permission to re-open with anything other than mobile equipment had been quashed in the High Court

The future of Dean Quarry in SW Cornwall now hangs in the balance as Tidal Lagoon 1 sinks & version 2 are not interested in using it as a rock source. What do you think should happen to this post industrial site that adjoins one of the finest Marine Conservation Zones in the UK?

Agreed. Report so generic . Each tidal project has its specific economic issues & mitigation requirements which have not been considered let alone costed . Pointless & not independent so sides toward tidal. I am sure tidal is the way forward but not this #greenwash.

Well said Phil.Tidal Lagoon have nobody else to blame for their bad planning.Their efforts to re-open Dean Quarry hit the buffers when their marine data got challenged by @mcsuk @UniofExeter presenting 14 years of underwater data vs 3 days of developers grab samples from a boat!
5. If the Development Consent runs out (next year), before they've discharged all the Requirements to which it's subject and before the Marine Licence application is determined, it's their own fault and they deserve no sympathy. The plan was miosconceived from the start.
