Planning a holiday and/or need to renew a passport? Watch out for current scams promoting bogus ‘fast track’ passport renewal services and duping travellers into paying for holidays that don't exist.
Scammers use increasingly sophisticated and convincing methods to dupe potential travellers into paying for non-existent holidays and services, including quick passport renewals.

How to prevent a WhatsApp takeover scam:
Never share the WhatsApp 6 digit code you get via SMS.
If a family member/friend makes an unusual request on WhatsApp, call him/her to confirm.
To block a sender within WhatsApp, press and hold on the message bubble and select ‘Report’.
⚠️ALERT: Criminals are targeting WhatsApp users by posing as a friend and asking for a security code.
❌Never share your WhatsApp activation code with anyone.

Well done @LloydsBank for refunding a customer £153,000 after he was coercively controlled into sending money to America as part of a romance/befriending scam - the man thought he was helping a woman who was in an abusive relationship. @bbcdanw @Moneybox

Pop over to Huntingdon Library between 12-4.30 pm next Wednesday 18th January for a cost of living drop-in.

What would you do if you found a USB device lying on the street? "USB drop attacks" by cybercriminals rely on people being Good Samaritans and plugging them into their computers to find out who owns them. But the only thing they'll find is malware on their computer. #scamfree2023
Use this Winter break to have a talk with your family about scam mail. Criminals will use any opportunity to steal money. If you think a letter that's been received could be a scam, send it to @AgainstScams to investigate for #SCAMnesty friendsagainstscams.org.uk/s… #ScamAware
Did you know CAPASP turned 4 years old last week? In that time we've trained 6249 Friends Against Scams and recruited 36 SCAMchampions and 119 CAPASP supporters. Why not make it a new year's resolution to get involved? Read more about it in our newsletter lnks.gd/2/z3_XWh
