The wonderful, and also often less acknowledged fact about Saint Augustine was that, well, in a sense, he was retarded.

It’s lowkey a green flag when a girl vapes because it shows that she has an oral fixation, an addictive personality, and no brain.
My problem with it all is that I do not really seek a career or have any grand imaginations for my future. From a young age I knew I wished to have a nice large family; having grown up seeing matriarchal society pains, and especially those of my family, it hurts! Simultaneously there is nothing greater than to witness a family of love and care.
Somehow, despite this wish coming early on, I suspected that I would struggle in the pursuit — and I do find myself now worrying about the years passing too quickly and not finding myself anywhere in a career, locale and general circumstantial stability where I could even begin meaningfully looking for this future (this is, of course, regarding my ability to hold adult autonomy via means of being able to self-sustain and have some assets to back it.)
Alas, the question on my mind remaining is what happens if this stability never occurs in my life? As a Catholic, I understand I must not give up and do my best at pursuing a dignified life that leads to a family — yet a depression plagues me, that makes me not much interested in all other things life has to offer, and I just end up resigning from it all.
Regarding the alternatives, I would not mind helping my friends when they have kids and becoming some sort of live-in nanny. As for sisterhood, if it is willed: we do not need cel-adjacent priests, nor their female equivalent, so before considering it, I must put some serious effort into plan A.
But, if plan A doesn’t end up coming through I will gladly settle for plan S.

In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty. Such an attitude will greatly help humanity, especially young people, to discover the ability of art to uplift and reveal the depths of the human spirit and our openness to the divine. Contemplation presents a marvelous opportunity to encounter the God who is Beauty.
It’s easy to advocate for the end of the MFA, but are you courageous enough to demand the discrediting of the MA?
Vacation week coming to an end. Back to button-ups and slacks for this young woman pursuing a degree in the “humanities.”
