I take it back! #Indianapolis did get its first freeze of the season this morning. This officially ends the growing season. 225 days since our last freeze on March 28th is the 4th longest growing season on record. The longest since 2024. #INwx @FOX59

.@GovBraun on @ChicagoBears latest stadium update:
“Indiana has assembled an excellent deal to build a world-class stadium in Hammond, Indiana. All negotiations have been done in good faith and to ensure that Hoosier taxpayers are protected.
“We encourage the Chicago Bears to fully commit to a stadium in Indiana because it is nearly time for the state to shift its energy and resources to the next opportunity.”
Earlier today, the Bears said they were “finalizing due diligence details across two sites in the Wolf Lake area,” but “At the same time, we appreciate the recent engagement from Illinois leadership to explore legislation which has allowed us to share our feedback.”

We did it, another RECORD in the books. #Indianapolis achieved its 196th day of 70°+ in 2026. That's an ALL-TIME record for a year since 1871. This beats the old record set just two years ago in 2024. Warmest open to a November in ten years. #INwx @FOX59

.@GovBraun weighs in on new leadership in the @INHouseGOP and @INSenateGOP:
“Congratulations to Senate President Pro Tem-elect Chris Garten and Speaker-elect Ben Smaltz on their new leadership roles. Over the years, we have worked together to deliver results on issues important to Hoosier families, and I am eager to continue that collaboration. As we look ahead, our shared focus must remain on addressing the kitchen table concerns facing hardworking Hoosiers, lowering costs, increasing opportunity, and ensuring affordability remains at the center of our work together.”

BREAKING: @INHouseGOP selects State Rep. Ben Smaltz as the next Indiana House Speaker. Smaltz introduced the failed bill last year to redraw Indiana’s congressional maps mid-decade.
“I'm honored to be selected by my colleagues to serve as Speaker-elect and lead the House Republican caucus. We had a disappointing night last night, but Republicans maintained the majority in the House and we will continue to champion the common-sense, fiscally responsible leadership Hoosiers expect and deserve. We will continue to build on the progress we've made in Indiana and focus on the issues important to Hoosiers – lowering cost of living, growing our economy and expanding opportunity for Hoosiers across our state.”
He replaces @tmhuston, who lost his bid for re-election.

Indiana Comptroller @Elise_Nieshalla concedes her race to Democratic opponent Jessica Bailey.
That means Indiana Democrats will send two of their candidates to statewide offices.
@FOX59 | @CBS4Indy
When I took office, I devoted myself to continuing our nationally recognized financial reporting and to advancing transparency for one of the brightest economic beacons in America — the State of Indiana.
Indiana has shown the nation what fiscal discipline looks like — healthy reserves, low debt, a balanced budget, well-funded pensions, and a AAA credit rating — and we stand as an inspiration to the federal government and other states struggling with massive debt. That record was built by you, Hoosiers who understand that our state has a duty to live within its means in service to the families and businesses that call this State home.
Through this election, Hoosiers have spoken, and I fully respect our democratic process. I have called Jessica Bailey to congratulate her and made a promise, that I also make to you: my office will ensure a smooth and professional transition in service to her and the great State of Indiana.
Serving as your State Comptroller has been one of the great honors of my life. A huge and heartfelt thank-you to all the volunteers, donors, friends and supporters who worked hard and dug deep to get out the vote across this state. To my campaign staff — what an honor to have been in the trenches together. We gave this effort our all, and I’m so proud of our campaign.
To my official staff — the precision of your work, your commitment to being “At your service,” combined with your passion for fiscal responsibility, makes this whole state proud, and together, we extended the brightest light of transparency to federal funds coming to Indiana.
Finally, I thank my husband, Chris, and my family for their incredible support and for how they have shared in this commitment to public service for the sake of faith, family, freedom and fiscal responsibility.
It was a tough night last night, not just here, but for Republicans across the country. It hurts, but we can’t let disappointment turn into retreat. Now is the time to evaluate what happened and why, and then get right back in the fight to keep our Republic free and Indiana strong — because the next election will be here before we know it.
God bless and keep the great State of Indiana.

BREAKING: @GovBraun extends the gas tax holiday for one more month:
"Affordability is my top priority, and I'm using every tool available to help Hoosier families and farmers save money at the pump. We're keeping these savings for Hoosier families and farmers in place for another month while protecting funding for our roads and infrastructure."

Voters sent a clear message last night. Americans are frustrated with how much everything costs. Gas was higher yesterday than on any Election Day in history. That’s unacceptable. I’m heading back to Washington next week and I’ll work with anyone who’s serious about bringing prices down and making life more affordable for Hoosiers. But Democrats don’t have a plan to do that. They’re already focused on DEI, impeaching President Trump and defunding ICE. They want to reopen our borders and raise taxes. That’s not what voters want and I will do everything I can to stop them. I’m proud to be Indiana’s Senator and I’ll keep fighting for families across our state. Onward! 🇺🇸
