Do you know how pigs are killed for food in the UK? This week, Claire Colley and @Andrew_Wasley wrote for the @guardian about @joeyCarbstrong’s video footage of pigs being stunned with carbon dioxide, the most common stunning method. It’s appalling. 1/10

A great day filming with @Canonjane @DLClough & @SaightonPrimary for @CEFAWproj. Thank you @ChesterCath for being so welcoming and kind.
How wonderful to hear this update about how children at @SaightonPrimary are using what they’ve learned from the CEFAW project about what chickens need to flourish to engage successfully with the school’s caterer!
We presented our chef @_HutchisonCater with a handmade gift, asking him to consider using free range eggs for all of our school meals. We are delighted that he has agreed! What a wonderful piece of courageous advocacy in action @CEFAWproj @Craftivists @chesterdbe1 #gentleprotest

Is this is the oldest evidence of concern about cruelty to farmed animals? An Egyptian relief dated around 2000 BCE shows a cow shedding a tear that she is not able to suckle her calf (Pritchard, The Ancient NE in Pictures, 1954). 4000 years on, many more cows suffer this grief.
