Does Physician sex impact on clinical outcomes in close to 1 million patients with an acute medical hospitalisation? Our @JAMANetworkOpen publication led by @propelresearch @JonZipursky @WallisCJD and colleagues suggests that pts cared for by female physicians experienced lower 30-day mortality and readmissions compared with those treated by male physicians. link to paper: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

Large sections of modern academic research can seemingly be replaced with advice from your average grandmother. Incredible.
Exercise should be prescribed, not just advised. For brain health. genomicpress.kglmeridian.com… @NTFabiano @CorlZhou

If they dared, biohacking bros who seek to defy aging could try a simple, time-tested method: castration. Removing the testicles extends male life span across many mammalian species, including humans. But a research team exploring this effect has now found the surgical procedure doesn’t have to be performed early in life to boost longevity, as scientists had assumed. In a new preprint, the group reports that neutering older male mice lengthens their lives by more than 30%, upending prevailing ideas of how the testes influence aging. Learn more: scim.ag/4eMYMV1

Not one of these ideas is remotely novel, let alone in dispute. “Not breathing is a gateway condition to multiple conditions affecting many organs in the body…”

This stuff is like catnip to me so I had to dive into the two papers during my lunch break (sad, I know...) The methodologies for both are deeply flawed and the hypothesis is patently absurd but the data is fascinating nevertheless. Rosman et al show that CV events rise two weeks before the election, the crash down 1 week before the election, continue to collapse AFTER THE RESULTS are known and then rise up dramatically two weeks later. With no difference between age, sex, health or political affiliation! Not to be left out, Mefford et al show that CV hospitalizations go up and down...every few days including during the 4 days before AND after the elections. Your "elevated" chances of getting hospitalized for a CV event 6 days before the election were exactly the same as 22 days after. We have a serious crisis not only in the research that is currently been paid for by taxpayers but in the scientific and main stream media that accept it at face value regardless of how ridiculous it is. It's deeply depressing.

This piece is exactly what I would expect from a formerly great medical journal currently cosplaying as the medical version of Teen Vogue. Worth reading just to see how far they have fallen.
On the cover: The Lancet Series on men’s health. Men’s poor health and premature death are not driven by biology alone, but by the environments in which they live and work. The Series authors expose the policy gaps that leave men’s health vulnerable to commercial and ideological interests, and set out recommendations. Read more ➡️ spkl.io/60177ZTP9

This is a really worthwhile read. Not everything is a pathology. Growing old is NOT a disease. Plenty of self-diagnosed "neurodivergent" people I met are just unpleasant personalities with a doctor's note to keep acting that way. Etc... Just stop. Be sensible. Resist medicalizing everything. Life is too short and precious.
