I know AI bros arent real programmers because "open source" has quite literally never meant "free to use in its entirety without permission" and its tragic to see people justify stealing code and feeding it to AI with "but it was open source!"

Once brawlback comes out it's going to completely overshadow this shit, i would bet money on it.

I don't even care about the AI """assistance""" (This person had 0 decent work before this) it's the completely bad faith bullshit and shitting on ten of thousands of man hours spent by community members just to farm twitter likes. Fucking griefer

> lift brawlback code line-for-line
> wrap it in ai-generated niceties, do zero actual work
> completely skirt collaboration, publish your own thing in bad faith
> piggyback off of 5 years of work done by other people, profit in hype and attention
go fuck yourself seriously

Despite whatever you might think, taking a soon to be released (literally days) open source project, stealing most of their backend verbatim, feeding it to an AI to finish it faster and releasing it before to """"beat them"""" to the punch is not socially acceptable lol

I don't even care about the AI usage here but fucking taking our code in order to release it in a rush before us is the scummiest shit ever
Cmon show your face @sarahkittyyy , hope it was worth to get ostracized by the community

I did a dig through the code. This is very obviously all unchecked slop stealing from other humans hard work with little knowledge of what's going on past just reading what Claude says. They try to hide some of their AI usage by excluding Claude as a contributor.
L stuff.

I’m feeling grateful but also kinda sad that I made Super Smash Land back in 2011. We might look back on that time as the golden age of fan projects. Vibe coding has kinda killed all the good vibes of fan games.

My thoughts on the whole Brawlback fiasco
I’m going to try and work with Poison to get this over the finish line the right way

If you launched it as a beta, clearly announced your intentions with the platform, and made it clear from the jump this was not a stolen fork of Brawlback, and offered to work with the team ahead of time (even if they said no), this would have went over much better.
Your failure was largely in the comms presentation, and lack of collaborative spirit. You need to take the feedback and learn to be a better builder in public.
The backlash was a bit overstated but you need to acknowledge the failure of your approach otherwise your intent and message will fall on deaf ears and not only hurt your goal and the community, but will further setback the community’s perception surrounding AI development processes and morality.

very epic rewording
Alright, I want to clear up some misunderstandings.
First of all, Orca is an original fork of dolphin. It DOES NOT use any code from the brawlback project WHATSOEVER, it is a totally different architecture for rollback.
Second, Orca is Open Source. I'm about to post the repo, I'm just finishing up documentation explaining exactly how it works right now so other people can have an easier time building on top of it. In hindsight we should have delayed the announcement video until all the code and documentation were publicly available, but it will be up shortly.
Third, I am the only person who worked on Orca (name pending), neither @LiquidHbox nor anyone else helped. I decided to work on Orca for Brawl about a week ago after spending the last month implementing rollback for 64 and melee on yougame using the same emulator rollback based technique and thought it should work just as well for brawl which it did.
The reason why I asked Hbox to credit the Brawlback team is because their work helped inform mine even though I used none of their code. I wanted them to share in the success. Developing new open source software is all about experimentation, and knowing what works well for others and what doesn't work so well is critical in deciding what the next experiment should be. Open source is all about collaboration and about giving credit when people make advancements even if those advancements specifically didn't lead to a breakthrough, they are all learnings for eventual success.
So once again thank you to @Fizzi36 @BrawlbackTeam Dolphin and anyone who's contributed towards the goal of Rollback Brawl. None of us could push the bar forward without the shared foundation of all the people who came before.

My favorite restaurant switched to ai generated menus. I walk around town and there’s ai generated flyers on every lamppost. Every other post on my feed is an ai generated mod in a vibecoded recomp. An ai chatbot told my boss to send me an ai generated email that im being let go

btw if this wasn't already incredibly sketchy and obviously ai/vibe coded it's hard to believe brawlbacks code isn't in the final product given this is on the github lol

Hi,
We have meet with @LiquidHbox and cleared things up. We appreciate it and there is no animosity between anyone
Hbox had the idea to donate the extra Cashbox prize pool towards the team as he wishes to see BrawlBack done properly as much as any of us do. We’ve accepted (1/3)

Hey all,
I removed the post about Rollback Brawl and Rollback P+.
There were things regarding its development that were heavily misconstrued to me, especially regarding @BrawlbackTeam.
I have spoken to Crunch about this, and I will be distancing myself from the project.
I love Crunch and would take a bullet for him - but I want to do what is best for the community - and Rollback solution with vibe coding does not feel correct in my heart, especially one that does not have the blessing of the people who were working hardest on an actual solution for it - the @BrawlbackTeam.
I’ve read a lot of concerns and replies about the work being built upon other work and I want to get to the bottom of what happened. They are valid.
AI has no place in the world of gaming. I want to make a point to support that moving forward.
I am not a software developer. I did not do my due diligence in fully understanding what was at play here, and the future ramifications it can present. I remember checking if the project was open source because I was curious for a timeline when it would be developed.
I simply wanted to do a favor for my friend for all the things he’s done for me.
I will be reaching out to the @BrawlbackTeam to understand what exactly had happened, and what can be done to rectify things. All I was told from Crunch is that he had their blessing and they asked to be credited in the post.
I apologize to those who were wronged, and to the people who look up to me to be an influence in the community.
