On October 14, 1912, Theodore Roosevelt was shot in the chest during an assassination attempt in Milwaukee. With the bullet still lodged in his body, he went on to deliver a 90-minute speech If that doesn’t tell you something about toughness and mental fortitude, I don’t know what does Now, being realistic here, most of us will never face anything remotely close to this, and toughness doesn’t mean ignoring serious injuries But there’s a lesson here. Life is going to throw adversity your way. What matters is how you respond, how you carry yourself and your willingness to keep moving forward when things get difficult

Not the outcome we were hoping for, but grateful for the opportunity to complete another season in the @CFL and continue working alongside a great scouting department and organization with the @calstampeders Looking forward to regrouping, getting back to work this offseason, and preparing for the 2027 season! Best of luck to all the CFL teams competing in the playoffs. If you’re a football fan, I highly recommend tuning in and watching some great football! #TogetherWeRide

From a scouting perspective, Chris Maragos is a great example of how football intelligence, athleticism, instincts, versatility, and special teams ability can translate into a successful NFL career Originally a wide receiver at @WMU_Football, Maragos transferred to @BadgerFootball and transitioned to free safety. In two seasons, he appeared in 26 games with 19 starts, recording 94 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 7 pass breakups. As a senior in 2009, he earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition, served as team captain, and led Wisconsin with 4 interceptions Maragos demonstrated strong instincts, play recognition, anticipation, and the ability to process offensive concepts quickly. His receiver background translated into natural ball skills, route awareness, and the ability to track and attack the football. He also displayed impressive short-area quickness, lateral agility, acceleration, and competitive toughness 📊 Pre Draft Times & Measurements: Height: 5’10⅝” Weight: 200 lbs 40-Yard Dash: 4.49 seconds 10-Yard Split: 1.53 seconds Short Shuttle: 3.98 seconds Three-Cone Drill: 6.52 seconds Vertical Jump: 36” Broad Jump: 10’1” Bench Press: 15 reps After going undrafted in 2010, Maragos played for the @49ers, @Seahawks, and @Eagles. While primarily a reserve safety, his athleticism, football intelligence, pursuit ability, and assignment discipline translated into an outstanding special teams career He became a two-time Super Bowl champion and special teams captain with Philadelphia, demonstrating the importance of leadership, preparation, versatility, and understanding multiple responsibilities Maragos reinforces the importance of identifying transferable traits and recognizing how a player’s abilities translate beyond a traditional starting role His career demonstrates that football intelligence, athleticism, positional flexibility, and special teams value can create sustained opportunities at the professional level
