Tantallon Castle @welovehistory image & reconstruction. Castle had several outer ditches to delay besieging forces. A V-shaped Ravelin cannon platform was added in 1500s. It may have copied elements from English earth & timber fort at Haddington as it had Ravelin like corners

Borthwick Castle reconstruction. Nigel Tranter told me Mary Queen of Scots was trapped here when the Earl of Bothwell ran away leaving her to face rebel Lords besieging the Castle for Bothwell's blood. Mary dressed as a boy (Page) climbed down the wall & escaped thru enemy lines.

Luffness Friary @CJMorrison65 image & mock-up. In 1388 the armour bearer to James Douglas, John Bickerton hid here on 'holy ground'. He allegedly stabbed his Master in the back at Otterburn. Ramsay of Waughton waited for Bickerton to leave on 'Bickerton's Walk' & stabbed him.
