I spoke to Jake Walman today at the NHL Media Day ahead of Game 1 of the #StanleyCupFinals. Walman said that his mom's uncle is Jake LaMotta. Jake LaMotta is the boxing legend who was portrayed by Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull, a film directed by Martin Scorsese. #LetsGoOilers

Because of the $650k saved, could this be a precursor to another trade? #LetsGoOilers
TRADE 🔄 The #Oilers have acquired forward Filip Hallander from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenceman Spencer Stastney.

So a first line and three 4th lines? Yup, everything is fine.
The @EdmontonOilers morning skate in Vancouver: Podkolzin-McDavid-Draisaitl Jones-Dach-Kapanen Formenton-Michaels-Joseph Howard-Samanski-Frederic Ekholm-Bouchard Shea-Murphy Walman-Mukhamadullin Levi (Zach Hyman not on trip. Mike Babcock will update after practice)

Whoa. My colleague Mark Messier on the Oilers hiring Mike Babcock as head coach, during the ESPN NHL Opening Night media call today. "I am just horrified about the whole thing, to be honest with you."

Sportsnet. Toronto. A new chapter awaits. And a childhood dream comes true. I’m unbelievably excited & grateful to be joining this incredible team as an Anchor on Sportsnet Central. The last eight years shaped me in ways I could’ve never imagined. Now, I look forward to building on it; through new challenges, new experiences in a new city & the opportunity to work alongside some of the very best in the industry. So much to learn. So much left to be written. Chase. Your. Dreams! Be Great. Be Grateful. 🤍

What a coincidence...
Also today: Red Wings interim GM Shawn Horcoff said Dylan Larkin suffered an upper-body injury this week during training and won’t be on-ice at the start of camp

To call Tony a great guy is a vast understatement. The positivity he brings to the rink every day is infectious, and at a time where he have enough to complain about, that trait makes Tony one of my favorite people. Don't know where he's going, but they're getting a steal.
The best eight years of my life. On August 20, 2018, I walked into this organization as a wide-eyed reporter who was set to live out a childhood dream. Today, I leave having lived something much greater. I leave as a man who was given opportunities he couldn’t even dream of. Thousands of interviews. Hundreds of games. Countless flights, practices, morning skates, playoff nights and moments that shaped me. I will carry them with me forever. I found my voice here. I found confidence here. I made mistakes here. I grew & evolved here. I experienced some of the best this beautiful life has to offer here. I leave with memories that will last a lifetime. But the greatest gift was the people I got to share them with. To my teammates: thank you for believing in me. Thank you for challenging me. Thank you for celebrating the highs with me and standing beside me through the lows. You mean more to me than you’ll ever know. To the Edmonton Oilers organization: thank you for taking a chance on that wide-eyed kid and allowing him to live out a dream. Sharing your team’s stories has been a blessing. It’s been an honour to represent this incredible organization & be a part of its journey. To Oil Country: thank you for welcoming me into your homes, your phones, your televisions and your lives. So many of my favourite memories came from meeting the people who make this fanbase so special; whether it was at the desk, in your seats, out in the community or even far away from home. I’m humbled to have represented this city and this fanbase. There is sadness in saying goodbye. But there is also an overwhelming amount of gratitude. I arrived here chasing a dream. I leave ready to chase another. Edmonton, you will always be home. From the bottom of my heart & with love, Thank you. 🤍

There is word this afternoon Darnell Nurse has agreed to expand his list of teams he will accept a trade to. San Jose is one to watch. We will see where it goes.

Sounds like Nurse has expanded his list of teams and San Jose now included. Oilers have some irons in the fire on him.

Today marks my first day as the Managing Editor of Sports for SportsCage.com. I'm grateful for the opportunity to oversee their already excellent coverage. I'll continue to be based in Edmonton, but I'm thrilled to have strong ties to Saskatchewan once again.

#Oilers & #LGRW Sebastian Cossa: I don't think I've seen this reported anywhere, but I am being told that the Oilers made an offer to Yzerman for Cossa. Ultimately, Yzerman stuck to his guns and made the trade with the Mammoth.

Another #Oilers goalie update: I'm hearing that Florida has some degree of interest in both Stuart Skinner and Connor Ingram. The acquisition of Ersson by the #Sens makes that destination less likely for Ingram.
