Government has confirmed London will be given powers to introduce an overnight visitor levy.
CLF has long called for a fair share of the revenue to be retained locally & for boroughs to have a meaningful role in how the levy operates, to make sure it works for all of London.
One year on, London Get Britain Working #Trailblazers have supported over 6,000 Londoners, with 1,700+ progressing into work, education or training.

Congratulations to Cllr James McAsh and Cllr Emma Will, elected Chair and Deputy Chair of Central London Forward at our Partnership Board meeting last week.
Thank you to outgoing Chair Cllr @AdamHug for his leadership and support as Chair of Central London Forward.
As London faces a Red Heat-health alert this week, with temperatures forecast to reach 38°C and June records expected to be broken, CLF brought together experts to discuss climate adaptation in central London. 🧵👇
💭 The panel discussion explored some of the key challenges ahead:
How do we make climate risk relevant to residents and politicians alike? How do local authorities lead? How do we reframe adaptation not as a cost, but as an investment in safety, health, and economic resilience?
@DavidShukman also highlighted that local government is where climate change becomes real through lived experience, and that adaptation requires collaboration across borough boundaries.
@DavidShukman, author of The Response, brought that message to life.
His account of the 2022 wildfires - the homes lost, the fire crews stretched beyond capacity, the low-cost interventions that have since helped protect communities - was a reminder that this isn’t abstract.
📑 Report author Emily Arbuckle presented the findings: central London boroughs are already feeling the effects of a changing climate, but they lack the statutory powers, funding, and policy levers to act at the scale needed.
📣 During London Climate Action Week, we launched our new report, Adapting to the Risks of Climate Change. With a heatwave outside, the conversation inside felt even more urgent.
Climate change is already affecting Central London.
With London’s hottest summer 2025 and the UK’s hottest spring on record, climate impacts could cost the city £10–15bn annually by 2050 without further adaptation.
