The cumulative tax burden on hospitality is now unsustainable for too many and with global political and economic crises to navigate a change of approach is needed - cut VAT, reform rates and pause govt imposed energy charges
“Our pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels are unable to absorb any more cost." The cost increases hitting hospitality this month will once again hit jobs and threaten business viability. @UKHospKate, our Chair, speaks to the Guardian: theguardian.com/business/202…

Our pubs, cafés and restaurants are the heartbeat of our communities, the places where we connect, celebrate and unwind. But right now, too many are at risk of closing their doors for good. Sorcha Eastwood MP is backing a vital call to cut VAT for hospitality and the night-time economy, a simple, practical step that could help keep these local favourites alive. With the Autumn Budget on the horizon, we need to send a strong message to Government. ⏳ Deadline: 16th April - We need as many signatures as possible. 👉 Sign and share: petition.parliament.uk/petit… Let’s stand up for the places that bring our towns and communities to life.

Our industry wide survey shows a third of businesses cutting trading hours, two thirds cutting staff hours and employment levels and 1 in 7 closing sites - to make work pay, businesses need be viable, sustainable and investing. OBR forecast 50,000 job losses. It’s not too late
What’s devastating with the extra tax burden in Hospitality come April…is the knock on effect of job losses. Operators across the UK are now set for redundancies or as a minimum, cutting back staff hours to help to try to balance the books.

We are loosing on a daily basis, many pubs, bars, restaurants, live music venues, nightclubs etc, all due to unsustainable energy costs. Myself, @UKHospKate @UKHofficial @wearethentia are working collaboratively with legals to help save the sector.

Absolutely staggering. Welsh Government have let businesses down. This money would have saved many that have been closed for good. And helped many more through unnecessary hardship; imposed by @WelshGovernment own restrictions.
When so many tourism and hospitality businesses and those who work in the sector were struggling to survive Covid lockdowns, it is beyond belief that the Welsh Government effectively denied them support bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-poli…

Brexit Pubs Guarantee - Chancellor increases lower duty rate for beer sold in pubs. An 11p differential - need to see full duty rates post August to understand % difference but substantially higher than previously announced.

Energy costs should not be the reason good, robust, world class businesses fail - but they are increasingly the single determining factor and we need action in this weeks budget ahead of 1 April change in support
