🚢 After almost a decade of development, seeing Mineral Europa out at sea is a moment we're incredibly proud of.
The world’s first ammonia-powered dry bulk vessel is more than a milestone for CMB.TECH. It’s a game changer for the future of shipping and the result of years of dedication, innovation and collaboration.
As our CEO, Alexander Saverys says in the video: “Mineral Europa is the first in a new generation of ammonia-powered vessels entering the CMB.TECH fleet. It proves that large ocean-going ships can be powered by ammonia.”
🎬 Watch the full launch video, in which Alexander shares why Mineral Europa marks a major milestone in shipping’s fifth propulsion revolution and what it means for the future of our industry.

Yesterday, our Chief of Staff, Jan de Beurme, spoke at the Global Maritime Forum Annual Summit 2026 in Shanghai, focusing on the future of shipping and its energy transition.
His message was clear: the key pieces needed to decarbonise shipping are now on the table. Capital is available, technology is advancing and the economics of green fuels are shifting in the right direction.
With ammonia-powered vessels already at sea, the fifth revolution in ship propulsion has begun.
The question is no longer whether we have the pieces, but whether we are ready to put them together. Now is the time for the maritime industry to turn ambition into action.
Decarbonise today, navigate tomorrow.

Behind every milestone, there’s a personal story. ✨
Meet Catherine Verbeke, the godmother of the world’s first ammonia-powered dry bulk vessel: Mineral Europa. 🚢
For her, this moment is about more than welcoming a new vessel to the fleet. It’s about seeing her sons turn their vision for the future of shipping into reality, while carrying forward the values they grew up with.
🎬 Watch the video to hear her personal reflections on this historic milestone and what it means to her and her family. Decarbonise today, navigate tomorrow.

!Newsflash! 🌍🚢
Mineral Europa, the world’s first ammonia-powered dry bulk vessel, has set sail on her maiden voyage to Australia.
She marks the beginning of what can be the fifth propulsion revolution in shipping and proves that large ocean-going ships can be powered by ammonia, without CO₂ emissions from combustion. And this is only the beginning. By 2029, 21 ammonia-powered vessels are scheduled to join the CMB.TECH fleet.
“Mineral Europa is the first of its kind, but many more will follow in the months and years ahead. The need to decarbonise shipping and strengthen energy independence has never been greater. Our technology and our ships are a game changer for the industry.”
After almost a decade of work, Mineral Europa is bringing our ambition to life: decarbonising today to navigate tomorrow.
