Web of Shadows and Origins Wolverine are far from perfect. No sane person pretends they are, and people had issues with them when they came out.
But what they DO have in abundance is 𝘴𝘢𝘶𝘤𝘦.
Sauce is not easily defined, quantified or measured like graphical fidelity, frames per second, writing quality, mocap quality and so on.
It's something you feel when you play the game. And it's something that many modern games are sorely lacking.

my ideal wolverine game would have dismemberment be an active part of the gameplay & not just an aesthetic setting that can be turned off. together with this and other things they have said & shown, I just completely disagree with the creative vision they have for this game.

Hot take: you're making a Wolverine game. If there's people who don't like profanity and would like this "option", that just means the game ain't for them.
Gatekeep them. Not every goddamn game needs to be for every demographic, every sensibility, every everything.
A game for everyone is a game that fails at achieving its peak performance in its own identity.
And if any vacant brained moron makes this about "just an option", here's a tip: when there's an option for a thing like this there are other design decisions centered around it.
Again. "IDENTITY". It's a thing many big studios forgot about, lost confidence in or simply decided the identity should be this bland sanitized unseasoned blob of "accessibility for all" - including the people who don't like Wolverine or whatever other game they're making lol.
