We see this ugly rhetoric in cities and towns, too. But, it doesn't need to be this way & we must always speak out.
"It’s time to go on the offensive. Instead of trying to ignore prominent reactionaries, advocates for unhoused people should...write reports, op-eds & blog posts that fact-check them. Make sure journalists who cover this issue are aware of every falsehood" thenation.com/article/societ…
Median rent in Worcester and surrounding town is $1271 for a one-bedroom apartment.
"When new housing isn’t built, landlords benefit, low-income renters suffer and more people enter homelessness. A recent @USGAO report found that when a city’s median rent rises by $100, its homeless population increases by about 9%."

"Holden has made itself the poster child for exclusion, for the kind of “not in my backyard” mindset that has helped make housing the scarce — and expensive — commodity it is in Massachusetts today. But Holden has had plenty of company along the way."

Excellent. We have an affordable housing crisis here in the UK too. We have laws that compel developers to provide a % of affordable housing under S106 but there are too many loopholes they can use to get out it.
I hope you win this case.
“Every municipality covered by this law, especially predominantly white, affluent towns like Holden, must relinquish exclusionary zoning and contribute to the cause.”
