Mine is Shande v. State (2005). In my view, the Supreme Court erred in setting aside a murder conviction based on the defence of provocation.
Provocation is not a complete defence to murder. Where successfully established, it mitigates the offence from murder to voluntary manslaughter.
Yet, the Supreme Court discharged and acquitted the defendant, despite the intentional killing of the victim.
I have never quite agreed with that decision. What’s yours?

Two Children D!e as Fire Guts Building at Benue Hospital
Tragedy struck at General Hospital, Gboko, Benue State, after a fire outbreak claimed the lives of two children, a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2026.
According to eyewitnesses and hospital sources, the children were reportedly locked inside a room at the hospital quarters by their parents, who stepped out briefly when the fire started.
A hospital staff member reportedly noticed smoke coming from the room and raised the alarm. However, before rescuers could force the door open, the fire had engulfed the room, leaving the children burnt beyond recognition.
