When a home fire breaks out, families may have less than 2 minutes to escape. A working smoke alarm can mean the difference between life and death.
On Oct. 10, volunteers went door to door to help families be safe in Colorado Springs' Canterbury Mobile Home Community.
For Red Cross volunteers who regularly help families facing the aftermath of home fires, the importance of prevention is especially clear. The goal is simple: give families the warning and knowledge they need to get out safely when every second counts.
Prevention and preparedness are year-round efforts. Have you tested your smoke alarms lately? Take a few minutes today to check them and talk with your family about your home fire escape plan.
