Men kristendommen bygger på Kristi lære, ikke på lister af gammeltestamentlige straffe. Hvor Koranen foreskriver konkrete love og afstraffelser, er Bibelen et vidnesbyrd om Guds syn på mennesket.
Hoppe bruger historiske paralleller som argument mod at kritisere islam. Men et moderne samfund flytter sig. Vi har for længst opgivet fænomener som barnebrude og stening. Problemet opstår, når sådanne praksisser fortsat eksisterer i dele af den islamiske verden i dag og i et vist omfang bringes til Danmark.
Det er rigtigt, at mange muslimer lever et helt almindeligt liv i Danmark. Men hverken kristendommens historie eller Det Gamle Testamente er målestokken for, hvad vi skal acceptere.
Målestokken er enkel: Kan man som troende – uanset om man er kristen, jøde eller muslim – se sig selv i spejlet og samtidig overholde dansk lovgivning og dansk sædvane?
