You might be the only other Hume fan to have read it. Cheers for your kind words!
Systems that claim to be capable of advising tactical or strategic decisionmaking are asking "what comes next" based on past observations. You can see this in military AI marketing materials, like this youtube.com/watch?v=XEM5qz__…

Couldn't resist getting into a new theatre for my hobby wargaming. Just need to find an opponent willing to play the bad guys...
Brodie considered all sorts of technological developments - mobile ICBMs, precision-guidance, faster delivery vehicles and robust BMD - and advocated for an approach that avoided treating technology as a determining factor - either optimistically or pessimistically.
I chose Brodie to revisit because he's frequently name-checked. Yet I often have the feeling only the briefest headline version of his ideas are considered by wonks today.
“It is not always true that views which have passed out of vogue deserve to be forgotten” - Brodie
Was another day where I felt hugely privileged to work with the @ThirdNuclearAge - @olamideDIY ran mini-UN negotiations for students, @bleddb advised the Cuban team (to victory!). Sarah Dunn was our RU SME and @LudovicaCastel5 was our MENA SME. Both were control cell powerhouses!
(Now twitterless?) Tom Plant deserves an award for going above and beyond on the day. Not only bringing the practitioner wisdom, he also whipped the control cell into an efficient machine and gave a masterclass to the rest of the game managers.
Many thanks to our very special guest, former US State Department game designer, Dr Robert Domaingue. My gratitude especially for being a practitioner voice that reassured the students this "gaming" was actually a useful real-world skill!
Reflecting @JuttaWeldes book (one of the best on the crisis) the scenario was designed to look very different from the simulated vantage points of Havana, Moscow and DC. The game we built was highly asymmetric - far from the superpower binary described in traditional literature
It's been 15 years since the 2007 Chinese hit-to-kill test destroyed a satellite. Worth revisiting @ArmsControlWonk @gkucs and @Genevaexpat excellent scrutiny of reactions at the time. Pretty much all the key controversies of '07 are still with us in 2022

Check it out to stay up to date with our plans. Thanks to @olamideDIY for putting this together and teaching me some web design
