Do you want apps tracking your children’s location? If you or your kids have used the @GooglePlay app store, they might be. And it looks like @Google is deceiving parents about it too. @SenBlumenthal, @SenatorTomUdall, and I are calling for an investigation.
Consumer groups say Google misleads parents by marketing inappropriate kids' apps as child-friendly. Google said it had removed thousands of kids' apps from the Play store after finding policy violations.

"It is not just about the protection of data; it is a matter of letting children learn and grow without concern about how their early preferences, talents and habits could shape the opportunities they have in the future."
Today in @nytopinion, @jimsteyer and @ghoshd7 make the case that the government needs to act to make sure the tech industry isn't misusing kids' data.

Kids shouldn’t be bombarded with targeted ads, but many companies simply don’t consider children off limits today. When online actors violate COPPA, they must be held accountable.
