It's that time again! FALL BACK as Daylight Saving Time ends tonight at 2am. Enjoy an extra hour of sleep, but farewell to late sunsets :(

Expect mostly cloudy skies with a chance of drizzle tomorrow. Halloween will be cloudy & cool. Don't forget, the time changes Sunday at 2 AM. The next system may bring cooler weather & some moisture, but it seems more like a wind event.

Rain is clearing from Amarillo, but we may still see some light showers or drizzle. Showers will linger in the NE/Eastern Panhandle. It’s shaping up to be a cool & damp night for high school football.

As suspected, this storm system was weaker than forecast, with the heaviest rain falling South of us. Amarillo has received only 0.3" so far, while some areas in the Southern Panhandle saw a bit more. Showers will continue this evening, potentially affecting football games.

Well, this storm system isn't looking too impressive on radar. Latest model runs are really backing off of rain totals as well. Quite the spread on model data, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Waiting on the moisture to get here. Spotty storms are forming ahead of the main system. There's plenty of energy, but wind shear is limited. A few storms may be strong to severe this evening. Rain is expected late tonight into Friday.

Patchy dense fog may develop overnight into Thursday AM. Rain chances increase on Friday as a storm system draws moisture from tropical depression Vance. Expect a wet Friday, but the heaviest rain should stay South of our area. Forecast will evolve; stay tuned for updates.

What a beautiful day with temps in the 70s & 80s! Now it's time to cool down to the 50s/60s. Friday looks quite wet with showers & storms around. The storm system clears by Halloween, perfect for trick-or-treating. Remember to Fall Back on Sunday!

Another solid rain event across much of the Panhandle! Amarillo scored 1.55" over the last 3 days! Showers will continue moving East through the day.

Nice thunderstorm rolling through Amarillo. Solid lightning display, loud inversion thunder. Haven’t had much luck shooting video, I’ll post something if I get a good bolt.

Watching the next round take shape across Eastern New Mexico. There is currently a Tornado Warning on the Southern part of the line. Not overly surprising, there is a lot of wind shear in place, especially in Eastern NM. We could see a few more attempts through this evening.

A band of thunderstorms is forming over New Mexico but is moving slowly. It probably won't reach Eastern NM until Saturday morning. Periodic showers & storms will persist through Monday. Most of the heavier rainfall will favor Eastern NM & the Western Panhandles.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect just outside our area. Some severe storms have occurred but haven't lasted long. Storm environment-wise, best energy & wind shear is in New Mexico. Spotty storms are possible in Eastern NM & possibly the Western Panhandle later tonight.

Monitoring moisture moving east. Showers & thunderstorms may develop late tomorrow in Eastern NM/Western Panhandle. Strong to severe storms may occur Friday/Saturday, with the best rain chance on Sunday.

It's Drought Monitor Thursday! Incredible news: drought has been fully eliminated in the SW Panhandle! While there are still areas facing EXTREME Drought, overall improvements are significant. Fortunately, rain chances are on the rise. Let's hope for some much-needed rain!

Rain chances are expected to increase this weekend as a Low pressure system moves eastward from Southern California. There's still considerable uncertainty, so we'll monitor the situation closely. I'll post more as the event nears.

It was a pleasant day in the Panhandle. If you like it warm...you'll love tomorrow with highs in the upper 70s & lower 80s. As the weekend nears, expect cooler temperatures. Late October lows usually drop to the lower 40s, but we’ll stay mild, mainly in the 50s.
