The Arts are a waste of time: all they tell us are things like how to understand yourself, your place in the world, how materials work, how society works, how to co-operate to get things done, resilience, optimism, powers of reflection, interpretation, holding your nerve. teapawt.net/BBCBreakfast/status/95…

Both Leeds Children’s Theatre & St Mary’s Youth Theatre have been refused our annual November main stage booking at Carriageworks Theatre. We’ve been performing a play for the children of Leeds every November since 1948 (Civic Theatre then the CWX since it opened in 2005).

How can we move Leeds forward when community arts societies are being priced out of venues like the Carriageworks? If we're going to be a city of culture, surely we should have some left in the city? @CWXisCommunity change.org/p/leeds-city-coun…

It ends: the Govt should...work with the leaders–in the arts, in science, innovation–to equip our young people with the skills they need. We need an education system fit for the 21st century, one that champions this country’s creativity as the foundation of its economic health 👏
