3 years ago today, a week before lockdown, the Courier features team was ‘sent home’ as the #Covid_19 situation unfolded. Life has never been quite the same, but for sure - we can be proud of the 156 Weekend mags & online content written & produced almost entirely at home since! – at Scotland, United Kingdom

🚨The Sphinx has melted!🚨
Despite a very considerable dump of fresh snow over the last 36 hours, I regret to inform everyone that Scotland's last piece of snow from the previous winter, The Sphinx, has disappeared.
Two seasoned mountain men attended the location in poor weather yesterday, dug down to where the patch would have been, but found nothing. This is the SIXTH year in succession that the Sphinx has melted, and the fifth year in a row that all Scottish snow patches have melted.
A wee day trip on the train out of Bucharest to Peles Castle in Sinaia - the former summer residence of King Carol I, surrounded by the stunning Carpathian Mountains. 🏰🇷🇴

When the print edition @thecourieruk went ‘compact’ in 2012, I was on the newsdesk at the time - and one of the recurring ‘complaints’ from readers in the immediate aftermath was ‘how am I going to draw my fire’?!

The Sphinx lives!
Today I went into the heart of the Cairngorms to see if Scotland’s final piece of snow from last winter had succumbed to the mild temperatures earlier this week. Amazingly, it continues to defy the odds. Barely 1.5 m long, it surely can’t have long to go!
The day @TheOpen champion Peter Thomson’s son sprinkled his ashes on the Old Course.
Andrew Thomson @newsfromkyushu scattered his father’s ashes during the 150th Open – hours before another Australian won.
Now he’s written a novel with #standrews at heart.

A good night’s work in Paisley in front of a great crowd. Real togetherness from the squad.
And so lovely to see some of the #Scottish #Thistles including Biggar’s @_EmilyNicholl_ there to back the team ✊
Next, a tough gig against Sweden. Onwards💪⚽️🙌👊🏴

My first ever trip to the Glenfarg railway tunnels on Monday afternoon was quite the wee adventure.
No ghosts, but the imagination could surely run riot!

Why X-rated film The Devils was banned by Dundee councillors – and why you can see it soon.
Ken Russell’s controversial 1971 film The Devils was banned in Dundee in 1972 after complaints to the council. Now it's finally being screened @DCAdundee.

Audition - the second instalment of Dundead Halloween - and great to see a 27-year-old film I’d never seen before.
And yes, those closing torture scenes were brutal! 🪚🦶
Daughter’s tribute to @DC_Thomson ‘quiet man’ Dave Smith who became ‘full-time grandad’ after retirement.
The Kirkton-raised family man, who has died at 75, spent 36 years at DC Thomson’s Kingsway site where he worked as a dispatcher.
