Been in crypto since 2018 and one lesson keeps repeating: Markets don’t reward copies just because the original has flaws. Ethereum survived hundreds of “ETH killers.” Uniswap survived endless DEX competitors. Aave became the default lending layer. Not because they were perfect. Because once liquidity, users, infrastructure, mindshare and habit compound around one venue, replacing it becomes exponentially harder. Pump.fun is reaching that category. And it makes perfect sense that it happened on Solana. A retail launchpad built around constant creation, tiny trades and instant execution needed cheap fees and fast settlement. Ethereum L1 was never the natural environment for that behavior at this scale. Now look at the opportunity set since Pump.fun arrived. People love saying: “Just buy real altcoins instead.” Fine. Which established Binance-listed alt gave you the kind of asymmetric upside people were actually searching for? There were exceptions. Of course. But most mature alts were not casually giving you 10x–50x opportunities. And the newer alts that did offer those multiples came with exactly the thing people criticize memecoins for: early-stage risk. New token. Unknown future demand. Unproven distribution. Uncertain team execution. Different wrapper. Same fundamental problem: You are placing a bet under uncertainty. The difference is that Pump.fun compressed that entire process into a brutally transparent, hyper-liquid attention market. And yes, the extraction criticism is real. But Pump.fun does not choose your trades. Nobody forces you to buy every new pair, chase anonymous developers or ape something created 30 seconds ago. Pump.fun provides the casino. It doesn’t choose your bets. You can gamble. Or you can wait. Know the team. Study the distribution. Watch whether they keep working when nobody cares. Decide whether the culture can survive after the first candle disappears. Most people blame the venue after repeatedly choosing bad tables. I’d rather understand the venue. Pump.fun doesn’t need everyone to love it. It needs to remain where attention, liquidity and new ideas are born. Until another launchpad breaks those network effects, the throne is still theirs.

Noise comes and goes. The trenches keep the record.
