Please keep Bishop John Keenan in your prayers as he steps back from his duties until further notice.
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀’ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 Bishop John Keenan, Bishop of Paisley and President of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, has announced that he is stepping back from his daily duties until further notice, following medical advice. Bishop Keenan has been undergoing medical investigations and will require further tests and examinations over the coming weeks. During this time, Vicar General Monsignor Joe Burke will oversee the day-to-day running of the Diocese of Paisley. Bishop Keenan hopes to provide a further update once these investigations are concluded and is grateful for your prayers at this time.

In an era of left culture war entrepreneurship, she truly is one of the most brazen examples. Shiftless in the name of any cause but self-promotion.

Sectarianism exists in Scotland no doubt. However it’s used as cover for a more inconvenient truth. People of Irish origin, descent and heritage are subjected to racism. Daily . If you are someone who justifies it by the “two sides” patter, you are part of the problem.

21/09 - PSNI ask Police Scotland for mutual aid 23/09 - PSNI tell Parades Commission no concerns 25/09 - Parades commission allow march Timelines do not add up. Someone isn't telling the truth and resignations must follow given how high the stakes are here.

Police officers from Scotland were deployed to Ireland to support the PSNI in connection with a contested parade in Drumcree, Portadown. The graphic below sets out some of the key questions surrounding the decision and why transparency about the process matters.

Given the history and sensitivity surrounding Garvaghy Road and Drumcree, the decision raises legitimate questions about how such deployments are assessed and authorised. What consideration was given to equality and human-rights obligations?

What information did Police Scotland receive before agreeing to provide officers? And what scrutiny will there be in Scotland? We call on you to ask your MSP these questions too.

If you are genuinely a Christian organisation then you would not insist on parading down a road whose residents, with very good reason, have asked you not to. So all that carrying a bible to a church carry-on is rank hypocrisy. There is nothing Christian about any of it.

Oh dear, well maybe not send 200 officers to Drumcree to force 30 anti-Catholic bigots down a road where the residents don't want them. That would give them more time surely?
Thanks to Steven Kerr MSP for bringing a debate to the Scottish Parliament on policing and the mental health crisis. Huge amounts of Police Officer time is being taken up dealing with vulnerable people in crisis. They need care, support and treatment from health professionals not a police intervention.

Solidarity and best wishes to the people of the Garvaghy Road and all those standing with them. Horrified that we have jumped back 30 years. Please God you all get home safe today. Meanwhile be assured that @PoliceScotland will not get away with their part unquestioned.

So what now @kirstenoswald ? We hope you are watching this and preparing to take responsibility for whatever happens to the good people of Garvaghy Road today. You should have stopped @PoliceScotland from sending officers into this situation.

They're deploying extra 200 officers from Scotland, they must be expecting it.

This is a disgrace the march should not go ahead & the fact that Scottish Police will be needed tells you everything about the toxic sectarian Orange Order. No way should Police Scotland be involved past time @scotgov need to do the right thing and say NO

Every single Parades Commission has prevented the Orange parading down the Garvaghy Road. Nothing of material importance has changed. The Secretary of State has the power to ban this parade. He should do so. The First Minister should also resign until equality guaranteed for all.
