This week is World Iron Awareness Week!
Iron plays an important role in helping our bodies function. Beef provides heme iron, which is readily absorbed by the body, making it a nutritious addition to a balanced diet.

Thank you to McDonald's Canada for hosting and for being a strong partner to Canadian cattle producers.
CCA staff Daniela Lombardo appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade to discuss Canada–U.S. trade and the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). She emphasized that the Canadian and U.S. beef sectors operate as a single, integrated market, and that maintaining tariff-free trade through the CUSMA review is the beef sector's number one priority.
Daniela also raised the sector's ongoing concerns about increased beef imports under the Mercosur negotiations.

CCA General Manager Ryder Lee appeared before the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry as it studied the Pest Control Products Act amendments in Bill C-31, the Budget 2025 implementation bill. He voiced CCA's support for the changes, noting that a science-based, risk-proportionate review system means producers can get safe, effective products in a timely way, the same ones their U.S. and global competitors already use.
Ryder also urged senators to support Livestock Price Insurance, a key CCA ask for Budget 2026 that would help producers manage price risk. On trade, he made clear that CCA opposes any additional beef access for Mercosur.

CCA wrapped up our advocacy week with MPs @JohnBarlowMP, @MADandurand, @shuvmajumdar, and officials from @AAFC_Canada.
Our message for Budget 2026: support livestock price insurance so producers can manage risk and grow the herd.
We also continued to advocate for no additional Mercosur beef access and tariff-free Canada-US trade.

Our beef producers are back on Parliament Hill this week to kick off the Fall sitting welcoming parliamentarians at our annual barbecue. CCA President Tyler Fulton shares our trade priorities and Budget 2026 ask--making Livestock Price Insurance equitable for Canada’s beef producers.
Thank you Minister MacDonald for joining our barbecue today. We also appreciate you taking the time to meet with our directors yesterday to listen to our ideas and for your support for Canadian beef producers.
A nice day for @CanCattle's Fall BBQ on Parliament Hill for a warm and delicious welcome back to the Hill and kick-off to the sitting session. This lunch is always a great opportunity to celebrate the return of the House while enjoying and showcasing some of Canada’s world-class beef.

Canadian beef has a strong future, and it starts with our producers.
I sat down with the Board of Directors of the Canadian Cattle Association, including Kevin Simmons, a cow-calf farmer from PEI, who brings an important Island perspective to the table.
Our discussions focused on the priorities that matter most—from opening new markets to finding new ways to grow the herd. Last year, Canada’s cattle herd grew by 3.2 per cent, the largest increase in more than two decades. That’s encouraging momentum, but we know there’s more to do to strengthen the future of Canadian beef.
