On Remembrance Day, 11 November 2019, Don Cherry was fired by Sportsnet following a passionate live broadcast in which he urged newcomers to Canada to honour our veterans by embracing the Canadian tradition of wearing the remembrance poppy.
His dismissal sparked widespread controversy. Countless Canadians rallied behind Cherry, while prominent figures in hockey publicly defended his character and challenged the decision to dismiss him.
A man who devoted decades to celebrating Canadian hockey, patriotism and our veterans deserved better.

Young Bob has been arrested on suspicion of affray outside of UCL earlier today.
A suspected member of faculty attacked equipment, punched him in the face and attempted to strangle him. A member of Stand up to Racism put a megaphone against his ear while protesters surrounded and harassed him. He defended himself and his equipment.
Police arrested two parties, Bob and the suspected member of faculty in question.

BREAKING: Carney’s 2027 immigration plan still means RECORD permanent residents.
Official numbers show 380,000 permanent residents plus 370,000 temporary migrants, then another 348,000 through one-time programmes, for a total of 728,000 new permanent residents in 2027. That is the highest on record while housing and healthcare remain stretched.
India has been the top source country for years, making up about 25% of permanent residents in 2025 and roughly the same so far in 2026—more than the next three countries combined. Large inflows from one country make integration harder and speed up already rapid demographic change.
The government calls this “sustainable” and under control, but it keeps adding hundreds of thousands of permanent residents on top of the temporary stream. Population growth this fast continues to pressure housing, wages, and services for existing Canadians.
