The Victoria Cross is the highest award in the Canadian honours system - awarded for extraordinary valour, self-sacrifice, and extreme devotion to duty.
It has not been awarded since the end of the Second World War, despite there being many worthy potential recipients, like Jess Larochelle.
Today, our government introduced a motion calling on the federal government to establish a military honours review board to determine if several past cases meet the criteria for the Victoria Cross.

In the last 8 years over $19 Bn that was promised to defence by the Liberals in SSE has not been spent. Hundreds of equipment projects are lagging, and our Armed Forces are short by 16,000 people. Things are NOT getting done. #cdnpoli

Yesterday, the US presented a Medal of Honor half a century after courageous actions during the Vietnam War. They recognize that valour should have no limitation period and a review process ensures fairness. It is needed in Canada too. #RIPJessLarochelle @CanadianCross
