You'll notice five lines on the wall of Nijo Castle. There's a meaning behind these lines. The five horizontal lines (also known as "jogisuji") seen on the earthen walls of Nijo-jo Castle are a design traditionally used in the Imperial Palace and highly prestigious temples. It's said that the number of lines represents the level of prestige, with five lines indicating the absolute highest rank. In the real-world Nijo-jo Castle, you can spot these lines on the walls surrounding the Ninomaru Palace and around the Higashi Ote-mon Gate. You can also find this exact design in the game! We hope you enjoy making little discoveries like finding what's similar and what's different between the in-game design and the design used in real life. By the way, if you want to take a picture of just the scenery like in this image, try turning off the Player and NPCs under the Character Display tab in the Photo Mode.
