On September 23, 2026, Mark Scott, General Manager, Pinto Valley, and Matt Kopman, Vice President, Corporate Development, attended the Unlocking U.S. Copper Production workshop in Golden, Colorado. Thank you to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI), Payne Institute for Public Policy, the Colorado School of Mines, and the National Laboratory of the Rockies for hosting an engaging session that brought together industry peers, the Department of Energy, the Department of War, and academia. The day was full of strategic discussion and debate about the growth opportunities ahead, the challenges our industry faces, and the role technology and innovation will play in unlocking domestic US copper production. One point wasn't up for debate: copper is one of the most important host minerals, with many other critical minerals recovered as by-products. As copper miners, we have a critical role to play.
