MY DEEPEST ANGER AND HEARTBREAK OVER THE CONTINUING SUFFERING OF WOLLEGA I am angry. I am deeply frustrated, and my heart aches for the people of Wollega. What is happening in Abe Dongoro, Kiremu, and Gida Ayana is heartbreaking and simply unacceptable.

"Judge me by my actions in my first 100 days." I’d rather judge her by her actions when she was defending the UAE and denying its role while evidence showed that it provided arms to the RSF which the group used to commit ethnic cleansing and sexual violence in Sudan
A thoughtful conversation with the @FT about the future of the United Nations and the leadership it needs. During the interview, I highlighted that: * The UN has become "more of a spectator than at the centre of some of the world's greatest crises and conflicts." "The role of the Secretary-General in peacemaking and mediation is more urgent than ever." * When asked about Sudan, I made it clear it would be one of my most urgent priorities. "Judge me by my actions in my first 100 days." The fighting must stop. Humanitarian aid must reach those who need it. And we need a credible and democratic political process that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people. * Asked about my independence, I was clear that my responsibility would be to the UN Charter and the Organisation. "I would speak frankly to every government on all the crises" we face, without fear or favour. * Asked about the Board of Peace, I pointed out its the mandate has been welcomed by a UN Security Council resolution, it and the Board has "played a galvanising role at a time of gridlock". * On the budget, my answer is to "prioritise", delivering a UN that is more focused and partners more closely with the private sector, the World Bank, the IMF and development banks. Countries have not stopped needing one another. The task now is to make cooperation work, for all. ft.com/content/145d971b-d8bc…

Visual confirmation! This is such an important breakthrough
🟢 Credible Reports that the Army has just entered Eiyal Bakhit in West Kordufan. This is highly significant because the RSF attempted to setup a last ditch defensive line here to prevent the Army from reaching the Stragic towns of Umm Badr and Hamrat Al Shiekh which are close to the State border between North Kordofan and Darfur.

Any country should be ashamed to support @Lana_Nusseibeh for UN Secretary General after years in which she was chief apologist for the arms pipeline that has resulted in mass murder and rape in Sudan. Could anyone be more contrary to UN values?
I'm hearing the next(ninth) UNSC straw poll for UN Secretary General is likely to be held Thursday, with differentiated red ballots for 5 veto wielding members of the Security Council. However, date not formalized. Should offer greater clarity on candidates prospects.

1. UAE diplomat Lana Nusseibeh wants to lead the UN. 2. A UN report found her country sent Colombian mercenaries to the genocidal RSF in Sudan. 3. She repeatedly lied to cover up that criminal complicity. 4. That should make her ineligible to be UN chief. trib.al/XOlrWyM

#Tigray's regional leadership has accused #Ethiopia's federal government of deploying foreign mercenaries directly alongside the #Ethiopian National Defense Forces (#ENDF) in renewed military operations. In a November 6 statement, it alleged that foreign personnel are no longer limited to drone operations and technical assistance but are actively participating on multiple frontlines. The statement cited civilian killings in Chila and Rama, aerial bombardments and artillery attacks, demanding the immediate withdrawal of foreign fighters and accountability for those financing and facilitating their involvement.

Credible reports indicate that UAE-linked 🇦🇪 IL-76TD cargo aircraft have arrived at Nekemte Airport in Ethiopia’s Oromia region 🇪🇹 in recent weeks. Further reports also confirm Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs are now deployed there, alongside new construction consistent with a drone shelter.

A leaked UN report "establishes conclusively" that the UAE hired Colombian mercenaries for Sudan's paramilitary RSF. The confidential report seen by MEE details Abu Dhabi's involvement in the Sudan war, as Lana Nusseibeh, its candidate for the UN, faces further scrutiny middleeasteye.pulse.ly/nl7kp…

🇸🇩 For years, the UAE has worked to shut down or bury UN scrutiny of its role in Sudan and other wars and atrocities, much of it while Emirati Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh, now a candidate for UN secretary-general, served as its UN ambassador (2013-2024). The New York Times laid out the following record: ➤ Sudan, July 2026: The UN Panel of Experts on Sudan, which monitors the arms embargo on Darfur, told the Security Council that "the U.A.E. supported the R.S.F. by providing mercenaries," Colombians trained at two military bases in Abu Dhabi. The report was never published. Bahrain, which holds a seat on the Council, blocked it, and a senior UN official and a regional diplomat told The Times that Bahrain acted at the UAE's request. ➤ Sudan, last week: The same panel sent the Council a new confidential report naming Global Security Services Group, an Abu Dhabi firm, as the company that hired the Colombian mercenaries, known as the "Desert Wolves,” confirming press reports including from the FT. The panel says the firm has close political, business and family ties to the Emirati ruling family. The Times and FT have reported it was founded by a senior official in the UAE presidency, and the firm calls itself "a preferred security provider" for the Emirati Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Presidential Affairs. The report traces how it moved the fighters into Sudan through territory held by UAE-backed forces in Libya and Somalia. ➤ Yemen, 2021: Saudi Arabia and the UAE successfully lobbied the UN Human Rights Council to shut down its Group of Eminent Experts on Yemen. It was the only international body investigating rights violations in the war, in which Emirati troops were deployed. ➤ Libya, 2016: As UN investigators accused the UAE of arming warlord Khalifa Haftar, an Emirati official wrote to Nusseibeh: "The fact of the matter is that the U.A.E. violated the Security Council resolution on Libya and continues to do so." The email was accidentally sent to the UN, which published it with the writer's name redacted. The Times identifies him as Ahmed al-Qasimi, a diplomat on Nusseibeh's staff. ➤ European Parliament, November 2025: As lawmakers drafted a resolution condemning atrocities in Sudan weeks after the RSF's capture of El Fasher, Nusseibeh led the UAE's push to keep it from implicating Abu Dhabi, Politico reported, personally lobbying members of Parliament. The resolution passed without a single mention of the UAE. The UAE "rejects as unfounded" claims that it influenced any Security Council member and Bahrain did not respond to The New York Times. The UAE sponsors the RSF's genocide and mass rape campaign in Sudan.
Sudan would be a priority for me as Secretary-General. The fighting must stop. Civilians and humanitarian workers must be protected. RSF atrocities require accountability. Sudanese people’s democratic aspirations must guide a political process. My response to @POLITICO’s NatSec Daily on this topic.

ETHIOPIA ― 🔔More than 100 Orthodox Christians reportedly massacred in two waves of violence in Arsi, Oromia region, yet the Abiy Ahmed regime remains conspicuously silent and inactive. In late October, extremists went door to door, slaughtering more than 60 Christians. Yesterday, another wave of violence claimed at least 40 more lives. Where are the security forces? Where is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens? Where is even the basic human decency of acknowledging the victims and mourning their deaths? Instead of hunting down the perpetrators, authorities are reportedly pursuing those who collected the bodies, documented the atrocities, and exposed the mass burials. It appears that those revealing the horrors are treated as a greater threat than those committing the killings. What kind of government fails to stop mass murder but mobilizes its security forces to silence those documenting it? When protecting its international image takes precedence over protecting innocent lives, the government's priorities are painfully clear. The Christians of Arsi deserve protection, justice, and accountability, not silence, intimidation, and impunity.
