Earlier this year, the SEC classified $ADA as a digital commodity, not a security.
However, this classification only appears in the explanation of the new crypto rules, not in the rules themselves.
Six blockchain organizations have asked the SEC to write it into the rules. We co-signed the letter, alongside @StellarOrg, @Hedera, @AptosLabs, @AvaLabs and @Chainlink.

For both users and developers, that's a major benefit.
While there are things to like about Zcash, there are also several weaknesses that keep us from being bullish on it:
- You have to pay extra to use Zcash’s privacy feature. After last cycle’s race to the bottom on gas fees, users just won’t use an expensive chain.
- Zcash is a clone of Bitcoin, so it inherited all of its limitations, making it a poor vehicle to extend the programmable privacy benefits beyond just making simple payments.
- $ZEC’s big rally is quite likely in the rearview mirror.
