PADI Women's Dive Day was never just about diving. It's about what happens when a community shows up for itself and for the ocean it loves 🌎 This year’s PADI Women’s Dive Day stories came in from all over. A coral nursery went in off the Maldives. A scholarship is now paying for someone’s dive training. In South Africa, a group skipped the water entirely and hiked a trail picking up litter. And in Singapore, a team cut a ghost net free from the reef and came back already planning the next cleanup. Every story is different, but the why is the same: when people belong to something bigger, the impact multiplies. The importance of diet, nutrition and Caribbean youth -@CARDIcaribbean @ncdalliance @ObesitySociety @CARPHA1 @PAHOCaribbean @cahn_uk @caribbeanyouth
In the Caribbean, the conversation about youth participation carries unique historical weight. For centuries, external colonial powers controlled nearly all decisions affecting Caribbean societies, establishing a long-standing hierarchy that centered external knowledge, dismissed local voices, and framed Caribbean communities as followers rather than decision-makers. While formal independence restructured political authority across the region, it did not automatically erase the deep-seated norms that exclude marginalized groups — including young people and people living with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) — from health governance. Decades after independence, questions about whose input counts, whose expertise is legitimized, and who gets to shape health policy remain central to advancing equitable health outcomes across CARICOM nations. HCC Advocacy Officer Jenee Farrell has authored a valuable document which all need to engage with. Thank you to those media houses which have shared this Op-Ed, helping us to reach everyone across the #Caribbean . @stluciatimes @stvincent_times @dominicanewsonline @antiguanews @kaieteurnews @thepeoplestribunesxm @caribscopenews #YouthEngagement #healthycaribbean

She rises before the sun. She knows every cut, every price, every customer by name. She negotiates, she processes, she feeds her community, she is the defender of blue spaces — and she does it all without a title, a contract, or a seat at the table where decisions get made. Today, we are not just celebrating women in fisheries. We are demanding that their expertise, their labour, and their leadership be recognised, rewarded, and respected, in policy, in markets, and in every conversation about the future of our ocean. The blue economy does not work without women. It is time the Blue Economy started working for them.🌊 Tag a woman who holds the value chain together in the comments below. 🔗 beknowledge.crfm.int #BECLMEplus #WomenInFisheries #BlueEconomy #Caribbean #BlueJustice #FishersVoice

Celebrating 25 years of Ballet Black As part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, @BalletBlack took to the Sadler’s Wells stage last night {October 14} with a landmark double bill. Cassa Pancho brought Ballet Black, the UK and Europe’s first Black professional neoclassical ballet company, to life in 2001. The decision was as a response to the fact that at the time, no women of colour were performing in any of the UK’s ballet companies. Now, Ballet Black has emerged as a pivotal force in altering the landscape of British ballet. ➡️voice-online.co.uk/entertain…
