Congratulations to these two outstanding physician-neuroscientists! Many people now are familiar with the fascinating fundamental research of @michelle_monje, but most people probably don't know she is a truly great physician. I'm fortunate to be inspired by her every day, in every way.
Congratulations to winners of The Brain Prize 2025! Professors @michelle_monje, @StanfordMed and @HHMINEWS Investigator, and Frank Winkler, Heidelberg University Hospital, have pioneered the field of Cancer Neuroscience. They have revealed a profound connection between cancer and the nervous system, fundamentally changing our understanding of brain tumours and potential treatments. A study on zebrafish shows that the #heart has a mini-brain – its own #nervoussystem that controls the heartbeat and that is much more diverse and complex than previously thought. Published in @NatureComms by researchers at KI and @Columbia. #Cardiology news.ki.se/the-heart-has-its…

Our new study is out! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… We (@CarlenLab) mapped the mouse PFC using single-unit activity! We recorded ~23,000 neurons across cortical/subcortical regions and profiled spont. firing patterns to reveal what separates the PFC from other brain regions. 1/n
