This test stand was the site of one of my favorite NASA tests from the 1960s.
Does one 1.5Mlbf engine sound as loud as eight clustered engines producing the same total thrust?
They answered that by testing an F-1 engine and an S-1 stage on the same test stand, on the same day.
On Jan. 10, two test stands at NASA Marshall – the Propulsion and Structural Test Facility and the Dynamic Test Facility – were removed by carefully coordinated implosions. The demolition of these historic structures is part of a larger project that began in spring 2022, targeting several inactive structures and building a dynamic, interconnected campus ready for the next era of space exploration.

I’ve been working on BE-4 in some form since 2015. The first flights of Vulcan and New Glenn were incredible moments.
But our first successful landing was different. It felt like we had fulfilled the destiny of these engines; BE-4 was always meant to land, and it finally did.
It’s time to launch a rocket powered by engines that I’ve worked on for my whole career.
Let’s go to the moon tonight.

Me: “I just don’t understand where this sense of existential dread is coming from!”
*checks Florida hotel reservation for upcoming week*
Me: “What could it possibly be?!”
It is challenging for me to express how exciting it is to see two rocket engines that I helped develop getting installed on a launch vehicle.
We’re getting tantalizingly close to flying!
BE4 is in the house!!
FE2 is on. FE1 will join it momentarily. #VulcanRocket #CountdownToVulcan #BE4 @blueorigin
I am so incredibly tired of the way gun control is discussed in mainstream politics.
Every proposal is a compromise right out of the gate, when conservatives are already never going to support even the most toothless of bills.
Banning guns creates a huge window of time for violence prevention prior to anyone being injured. Our current system leaves essentially zero time for prevention: a crime isn’t committed until the gun is being fired at a person. Until irreparable harm has already been done.
Over a decade ago, my friend @joyurge and I taught each other to program by building a card game for the then-nascent iPhone app platform.
Today George released a beautiful update to the app! Go get it!

Back in 2011, Bitcoin seemed like a neat technological novelty, and I’ll confess: I spent some time learning about it, tried to mine coins for a little while, and then lost interest.
I accrued 0.0412 BTC from this idle curiosity. (1/3)
In the decade that followed, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a whole has not solved any substantial problems, nor has it “democratized finance”. Instead, it has resulted in millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions, while steadily making money for a privileged few. (2/3)
Today I divested from Bitcoin and donated the proceeds to @sunrisemvmt. It doesn’t feel like enough, but it’s a start.
To anyone else with cryptocurrencies hanging around on your balance sheets, I’d encourage you to do the same. (3/3)
