this is the climax of an episode that is just characters talking in rooms made up of reused sets with tables and chairs for 45 minutes and its one of the best episodes of star trek ever made if you tried to make this today without people screaming and crying they'd just kill you
They used to just play shows like this on broadcast tv

Imagine living in Brampton and removing bike lanes in Toronto because the Premier “told you to,” despite your own government’s evidence that doing so won’t reduce congestion. Why not start with Brampton’s bike lanes? Why impose your will on Torontonians who didn’t elect you and don’t support what you’re doing? Now imagine the Toronto candidate cheering you on suffered a humiliating defeat (Bradford) just days ago after six years of campaigning and spending a fortune trying to convince Torontonians to vote for him. And then imagine posting this video.
We’ve completed the removal of bike lanes along 1.2 kilometres of Bloor Street West, restoring vehicle lanes in both directions.   Under Premier Ford’s leadership, we're fighting gridlock, supporting local businesses and getting drivers moving again.

- Celebrating a game studio closing is fucking weird - Celebrating game developers being laid off is also fucking weird - Endlessly talking shit about games you don't like makes you look like a loser

This is so telling. These people think yassifying art with glorified Instagram filters makes it better. If we allow them to control the narrative we are all cooked. These LARPing clowns need to know their place. Keep saying no to this mass dumbing down of everything.

My art is better than AI slop
I'm sorry but when artists go like "my art is better than this AI slop" and then post art that's not like super impressive it's just really embarrassing.

I think it's time to hang up my Three.js hat. First of all, this is not a pity post—I'll be fine. I'm also not 100% confident about this. But I'm an over-sharer and like to talk out loud, so I thought I would share some thoughts on where I see things going and why I'm considering quitting Three.js development. Some signals I've noticed lately that have gotten me thinking: - Since Astra was released, I've probably seen at least 10 posts from different people that have achieved similar quality to Three.js Water Pro or better. - Someone downloaded a video recording of one my posts, fed it to Astra and recreated it with 90% accuracy - I've had less and less clients referrals - A Three.js developer I respect very much is retiring from the industry due to impact of AI and lack of interest - I've heard 2nd hand accounts of other developers losing majority of course/plugin sales due to AI - I've noticed Three.js posts have shifted from work created by seasoned developers to vibe-coded games and demos. Fundamentally, I no longer really see value in what I do when it can be replicated so easily. I've always enjoyed working on hard problems. Naturally, outsourcing the hard part to an agent takes away a lot of the enjoyment for me. High-level orchestration of agents does not tickle my brain in any special way. At the end of most days I feel unfulfilled and bored. I honestly feel like I've lost much of my critical thinking ability as I've stopped coding. I find it harder to focus on tasks and my attention-span and comprehension is noticeably dropping. My plan right now is to finish up Water Pro v4 and see how that performs. After that, I think it's time to start thinking about what else is out there for me. I'd love to hear thoughts from other developers & freelancers on the matter, positive or negative. Feel free to vent!

A few years ago, the McDonald’s CEO admitted that tough times for consumers can mean booming profits for corporations. So it’s no wonder why they’ve raised prices without raising wages for fast food workers. We must continue to join together so we can shift this reality and ensure prosperity is shared by all, not just #GreedyCEOs and shareholders!
NEW: McDonald's prices have doubled in the last ten years. The profits have gone mostly to shareholders, who got nearly $40 billion in dividends over the past decade while customers suffer and workers are underpaid. Here's how fast food is the latest victim of enshittification.

This is my cycling route to work. Along this stretch of Yonge Street, where the bike lanes are being removed, there is no viable side-street alternative within the street grid. The only other north–south options are Avenue Road and Mount Pleasant Road. Neither has cycling infrastructure, and both are completely out of the question from a safety perspective. That leaves Yonge Street. Once the bike lanes are removed, people cycling through this part of the city will have no choice but to merge with traffic and take the lane, as permitted under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act. Anyone who believes this will reduce congestion is deeply naive. Cyclists travelling from the north have virtually no alternative to Yonge Street from just north of St. Clair Avenue. In my case, I remain on Yonge until Roxborough Street, where I turn east and weave through the residential streets of Rosedale to Bloor, with one short dicey moment at Park Road. Removing bike lanes will not remove cyclists. It will simply force us into mixed traffic, making the street less safe and less efficient for everyone. It didn't have to be this way.
Another day, another Toronto cyclist hit by a driver — this one in a gap in the Yonge bike lanes, which @fordnation and @PrabSarkaria are ripping out. Get ready to see a lot more of this on Yonge, Bloor, and University.

Unelected former trillionaire bureaucrat takes over government finances, slashes food safety inspections in half because genius thinks its wasteful spending, tens of thousands get sick, hundreds hospitalized, and at least 2 have died. We’re just supposed to all be ok with that?
DOGE cuts have reduced FDA food inspections by HALF. Would be nice if the media reported that CAUSE and EFFECT.
